“Brill For Partying”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2007

Well i read loads of reviews about this before i went and they said it was a long walk to the beach, thats why i decided to go get the quads right outside our hotel, its a good 10 mins to the beach but the night life is along the way and we popped into most bars down the strip. The hotel is at the top of the strip and has a great club next door (EURO a drink :D) called the loft. Security is ok i did get stopped once bringing someone back but if you want them in then send them in alone first n tell them too meet u in the corridor haha that was my trick, but before that i didnt get stopped, the man that sits in the hall is always half asleep anyways! Never made it for brekky so i wouldnt know and i would definatley recomend this one and would defo go back again :)

“bit of a love/hate thing going on.”

A friend and I stayed here at the start of Sept '07. If im honest before we went I read all the reviews on here and thought 'yeah right, bet all the people who wrote these were boring...' but then I arrived in this HOLE. We arrived by a joyriding coach driver in the early hours of a saturday morning,to find it in between two bars, above another, and a young british girl being sick outside our hotel. We checked in (the manager was really nice, so fair play) and then got taken up to our room-if you can call it that. Two extremely small twin beds, pushed so close my friend hit me in the face with her hand in the night twice, The bathroom had a shower tray in the floor but no curtain or holder to put the shower on. The floor got so flooded i slipped over twice and got a massive bruise on my arm. The room was so hot my friend actually passed out, leaving us no choice but to hire out a fan for 30E from the reception and sleep with the door open. The breakfast consisted of Melba toast, butter, jam, bread rolls and cereals-quite frankly not worth getting up with a hangover for!! On the upside, the pool in the hotel was ace-really deep and warm and there were always loads of sunbeds to choose from. My friend and I planned to go out every night to the strip and was glad of it being close, but as mentioned in previous reviews the constant bartering by the PRs gets tiresome. I actually got picked up by some strange man and carried into his bar whilst his colleagues held my friend back when I refused to come inside which was a bit frightening. On the upside, the First choice reps were amazingly fantastic and did everything in their power to make sure we had fun-the booze cruise and pub crawls were amazing. There was nobody over the age of 25 in this hotel the week we stayed-for example, when we checked in, there was 18 boys and just my friend and I who were girls. Then the bar man in our hotel had the AUDACITY to ask how many people I had slept with out in Malia and then look suprised when I said none, thankyou very much. Quite frankly, I was pleased to see the back of this place and needless to say I wont be travelling anywhere remotely near Malia again.

“Don't bother with unsafe Malia”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2007

Just arrived back from a 2 week holiday staying with a friend at Malia Holidays. Firstly, I would never go to Malia again even if paid to do so - crime is rife, though not permitted to speak of various stories we heard, to name a few I would certainly never make a trip up towards the mountains or to the beach alone or in a group, especially as a female. It is NOT safe here. hotel was basic but ridiculiously hot - no air conditioning, no fridge to store water and generally unpleasant. secruity was not up to scratch, with a broken back door which we demanded was fixed, and a security guard that attempted entering our room at 2.30am - an accident we were assured to give us a notice from thomson (welcome note) apparently urgent. Needless to say we spent the rest of the holiday trying to escape our sweatbox of a room and find some culture outside of malia's british-take over strip. Maria, the hotel manager however is extremely nice and did everything in her power to apologise to us for the inconvience caused. The hotel pool is also a plus. Breakfast is pretty awful so many people we met, including ourselves, didn't bother. We enjoyed the odd night out with some good bars and clubs but the hassle from PR's everynight became tiresome. It is sad to see what once may have been a nice greek town turn into such a dump. Do not expect help from locals if you come into trouble either, you will be ignored. As British - you are regarded as scum of the earth, despite our money helping to keep this hell hole afloat. Better to spend your money somewhere nice, don't waste your money worrying about you safety for 2weeks like we did.

  • Liked — Pool
  • Disliked — Room, lack of security, dreadful area.

“brill!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 March 2007

I went to malia with 4 of my friends in july 2006, we stayed here for 2 weeks on a bed & breakfast basis!!!

Weather::: The weather was ok, i thought it might of been hotter, but we still got a good tan!!!!

Hotel::::::: The hotel was ok, its a very good place to stay if you are just wanting a bed to stay in at the end of a night out in the vibrant centre of malia! When we arrived we thought that this wasn't that bad!! we had booked a studio, and we have always stayed in apartments!

Room:::::: The room was very dull, with all dark and old furniture. it was very small all we had was 2 beds in each room and a toilet, shower(which was never hot) and a sink, and the water from the shower kept going all over the floor and there was abig puddle every time you got out so we had to use the towels to stop it from running into the bedroom so we had to use our own towels(beach towels) to get dry!! We kept nicking some towels from the cleaners trollys!!! we also had a balcony which was long but it only had 2 chairs and a small dirty white table in the middle. The room did get very hot and sticky but you can rent a fan but this was reallly expensive, also you can rent a fridge and again this was a rip off!!

Cleaners::::: The cleaners did come in out room every day, but they did nt do much all they did is make our bed and that was about it, the floor wasn't clean at all it was filfthy!!

Location:::::: The location is good you are about 2 - 5 mins walk from all of the action, it was brilliant! We were about 30min walk from the beach but we only went there once out of the 2weeks we were there. When you went back after a night out you could sleep but then again we had n amusement place across the road and people were playing it to about 6am so all we could here was the big ding noise from the ounching machine!!

Pool:::::::: The pool isn't big at all, its actually really small there isn't many sunbeds there so if you wanted 1 you needed to be up early in the morning to get your bed! (early at this hotel was about 11) The pool bar is ok, the food was ok. BUT THE BREAKFAST IN THE MORNING WAS REALLY HORRIBLE!!! so we never had breakfast.

Nightlife:::::: The nightlife in malia is excellent, i would recommened to any1 whos up for getting rat arsed every night, the only problem i would say is that they play the same music in most of the bars, its like they will put a cd on and just let it play thriugh for the rest of the night, but then again you wouldn't really notice if you were drunk!! I loved club uk, i we went there every night it was brill!!! At the end of the night when you are coming out of the clubs between 2 -- 6 am, there is children who are aged from 1 -- 13 yrz, asking for money from you, and also you need to watch you pockets and bags as they pick pocket!! there is also mums sat outside on the road and pavement with babies in there arms asking for money, this was sad to see!!! I didnt like the bouncers on some of the doors at clubs as we saw them a few times litrally kicking and thumping english guys, which this wasn't nice to see either.

Anyway our holiday overall was good!! We would go back but we would stay in a different hotel.

HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
