booked cheap n cheerfull last min thomas cook n didnt really no what to expect after reading so mixed a reviews but was blown away, breakfast is basic but its their every morning n the large coffee pot started my day off perfectly, our room was basic but clean, tidied n maintained daily,my view overlooked the pool which was brill, had single beds which we pushed together but were unable to make a double due to wood surround,i hated it but the wife loved it lol.the pool is by far the best on the strip and the biggest and for us the place to be everyday, plenty of sun loungers n parasols, pool tables snack bar run by the kindest sociable most willing to please staff you could wish to meet.the hotels interior is dark but clean n quirky n has drinks machine and evening cocktail bar,and the reception area and staff is an excellent area for socialising.all the staff are brill and the family members are so welcoming especially snack bar manager eva,i loved you xxx robert redford xxx

“Hotel ok, female staff very nice, male staff ********”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2010

The title somes up Malia holidays. It's located in a great lively place at the top of the strip which is near plenty of bars, Clubs are quite a walk down. The Hotel is nicely structured with a nice pool and pool bar which is usually very lively. The rooms are very small and uncomfortable, which makes you very hot and forces you to pay 50 euros per week for air con. The shower is small and awkward. The 3 women who work there are very pleasent and always smile and joke with you. The main man and the security guard are not very nice. They always give you dirty looks and refuse to allow you to have any one back to your room unless you pay. One night me and my two mates were talking to a girl who ended up paralletic, she could not tell us where she was staying so we thought we would put her in our room for the night leave her there to sleep it off whilst we go back out, however the security guard followed us and asked us to pay 40 euros (when she was crashed out on the bed) or get rid of her. We refused so he fireman carried her outside and just laid her on the pavement. She obviously did not have a clue what was going on. Malia is great, Malia holidays not so sure.

“Wicked holiday, average hotel!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2010

I read all the reviews for this hotel before i went naturally and was a little worried about actually staying as a result. however upon arrival apart from a few things it was really nice, and was an amazing holiday.

Firstly if you want an above average hotel or are fussy dont stay here, otherwsie its fine. The maids dont clean as much as thery should and tend to change the sheets maybe once in the week, the towels were new everyday which if im honest i didnt expect. there are no shower curtains so you do end up flooding the bathroom alot!!!! otherwise the rooms were ok, they do the job they are somewhere to sleep. the pool and poolside bar was brilliant, the lady that works there is lovely and was very caring even if you had a self inflicted hangover. :-).

Everyone seems to share lilos and to be honest only cost about 3 euros anyway from a shop down the road, there are loads of sunbeds and never have to save them as no one seems to surface before midday except a few hard core sun worshippers like me and my friends.

you can rent air con/ fans/ firdge and safes which are in reception and its worth getting a fan at least think it was around 30 euros for the week per room, otherwsie its to hot.

the hotel is at the top of the strip however the opposite end to the beach so ias a bit of a walk if you prefer the beach to the pool. the is an extra shutter on the door that blocks out most noice in the night and we found we could sleep any time of day or night regardless of the noise whether it was music or the quad bikes zooming around constanly.

People were pretty friendly guest wisehowever the staff (apart from the pool bar lady) were very rude and you felt you had done somethnig wrong at all times, you cant have any one back to the room and the security guard follows you up to your room when you come back which is a little intimidating.

the whole holiday was amazing although food out there is awful 'the royal oak' pub was the best place we ate and went there for the last 4 nights of our holiday.

Hope you have as much fun as we did!!!! Hope this was helpful. x

“Brill For Partying”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2007

Well i read loads of reviews about this before i went and they said it was a long walk to the beach, thats why i decided to go get the quads right outside our hotel, its a good 10 mins to the beach but the night life is along the way and we popped into most bars down the strip. The hotel is at the top of the strip and has a great club next door (EURO a drink :D) called the loft. Security is ok i did get stopped once bringing someone back but if you want them in then send them in alone first n tell them too meet u in the corridor haha that was my trick, but before that i didnt get stopped, the man that sits in the hall is always half asleep anyways! Never made it for brekky so i wouldnt know and i would definatley recomend this one and would defo go back again :)

“bit of a love/hate thing going on.”

A friend and I stayed here at the start of Sept '07. If im honest before we went I read all the reviews on here and thought 'yeah right, bet all the people who wrote these were boring...' but then I arrived in this HOLE. We arrived by a joyriding coach driver in the early hours of a saturday morning,to find it in between two bars, above another, and a young british girl being sick outside our hotel. We checked in (the manager was really nice, so fair play) and then got taken up to our room-if you can call it that. Two extremely small twin beds, pushed so close my friend hit me in the face with her hand in the night twice, The bathroom had a shower tray in the floor but no curtain or holder to put the shower on. The floor got so flooded i slipped over twice and got a massive bruise on my arm. The room was so hot my friend actually passed out, leaving us no choice but to hire out a fan for 30E from the reception and sleep with the door open. The breakfast consisted of Melba toast, butter, jam, bread rolls and cereals-quite frankly not worth getting up with a hangover for!! On the upside, the pool in the hotel was ace-really deep and warm and there were always loads of sunbeds to choose from. My friend and I planned to go out every night to the strip and was glad of it being close, but as mentioned in previous reviews the constant bartering by the PRs gets tiresome. I actually got picked up by some strange man and carried into his bar whilst his colleagues held my friend back when I refused to come inside which was a bit frightening. On the upside, the First choice reps were amazingly fantastic and did everything in their power to make sure we had fun-the booze cruise and pub crawls were amazing. There was nobody over the age of 25 in this hotel the week we stayed-for example, when we checked in, there was 18 boys and just my friend and I who were girls. Then the bar man in our hotel had the AUDACITY to ask how many people I had slept with out in Malia and then look suprised when I said none, thankyou very much. Quite frankly, I was pleased to see the back of this place and needless to say I wont be travelling anywhere remotely near Malia again.

  • Liked — The deep pool, gorgeous sun and heaps of sunbeds.
  • Disliked — Urm...everythng else?!
