“A perfect place for a perfect beginning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2011

We chose the beautiful Bastide de Marie for our wedding in June 2010 and we honestly would not change a single thing. The venue is idyllic, truly magical: nestled amongst the Provencal vines and a stone's throw from some of the most beautiful little towns and villages in the area. The staff are absolutely fantastic: Mireille and her wonderful team pulled out all the stops to make our special day the most amazing of our lives to date. The Bastide itself is decorated so beautifully in true 'Provence farmhouse chic' style. You cannot help but relax when you there (even on your wedding day!) – everything is perfectly simple: nothing fussy, just pure class with outstanding attention to detail. The food is the same – simple, beautiful food; full of flavours and prepared using only the best fresh ingredients. We cannot wait to go back and re-live our fabulous memories. It was a dream come true, in every sense of the word – we could not have wished for a more perfect start to the beginning of our life together. Thank you all. xxx

“Attentive Quaint Hotel in Provence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2010

We stayed two nights at La Bastide de Marie and I wish we could have stayed longer. The food was fantastic (we ate breakfasts and dinners there) and the staff was super attentive and responsive. The hotel is a converted group of farmhouses from the 17th century I would guess, and inside they are VERY comfortable and charming. There are two pools and next door is a very good winery. They have an indoor dining room and a terrace dining room, both of which are very comfortable. The restaurant staff was excellent and the service was as good as we had anywhere in our 3 1/2 weeks in France.

We stayed in the Aubergine Suite and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was like stepping back in time.

“Lovely respite from the real world!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

My husband and I spent five nights here and it was paradise. At a price that we might not pay for anytime soon, but a delight nonetheless. La Bastide is set in a perfect location, in the middle of Provence, close to many wonderful day trips. But the setting itself, in the midst of lush green vineyards, meant that we never felt guilty if we decided to linger on the property, relaxing and reading.

The service was excellent. Mireille, the concierge, was extremely friendly and full of tips on local marketplaces, sights, and nearby walks.

Afternoon tea was delightful. Dinners were sublime. The food was the best we had anywhere in France. Ordering was made easy since there were two choices for appetizers, entrees and dessert.

The price for our stay was not cheap, but we felt it was a good value when we factored in what we'd have to pay to get meals like this anywhere else. Breakfast and dinner are included in the price of the room, and breakfast was lovely, with options for ordering and an extensive buffet.

Our room was fine, with a lovely old bathtub looking out on the vineyards. Tiny bathroom and shower, which might bother some people, Not sure what other rooms provided.

If you want a memorable stay in a gorgeous setting, with food you will never forget, in a landscape that photographs itself, this is the place to reserve!

“wonderful dinner experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

My wife and I stayed at Bastide de Gordes, but came here for dinner one night. It was one of the best dinner experiences we've had. Beautiful setting, gracious service (from personalized welcome to the two waiters serving us). All in all a lovely experience - one price gets you access to plentiful hors d'oeuvres table and self serve bar, and then a fantastic 4 course meal. Casually elegant and a relaxed pace. On the other hand if you want stuffy service and environment with over-priced everything, have dinner at Bastide de Gordes. We loved staying at Gordes, but don't eat dinner there !

“A nightmare- at the cost of 600 Euros per night”

The price for this hotel is simply ridiculous.
Very (!!) bad food and wine, no atmosphere, everything is totally unprofessional, the rooms are dark, beds uncomfortable, facilities (pool etc.) small and dirty, no towels, no deckchairs, no service available. The whole place badly needs to be cleaned, renovated and tidied up!!!
On the way to the reception(no sign, just a little dark room with people pushing eachother in front of me-I'm serious..) we had to step over bikes and strollers. No need to go into further detail, just avoid this place!
Instead, I recommend "Crillon le Brave" à Crillon le Brave. Nice!!!
