“Nice hotel, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2011

Stayed here for 2 nights. We stayed in room nr. 3 on the first floor. This room views the back of the hotel and therefor it is more quiet than when you have a room with a view on 'grand place'. Eventhough Cassel is a very quiet village, there is a lot of traffic passing and the cars driving the cobbled streets make noice.
Room nr. 3 has a double bed ('French' size), and a large bath room (no door, but divided with a curtain). Nice decorated.
Nathalie is a very nice woman, she seems to take care of everything for the guests. You can have dinner at the hotel,1 night we did, and it is good value for money. The restaurant has the size of large living room, and has about 8 tables. You can check the website for the menu's and prices.
Breakfast is also French style; which means no ham or cheese, or eggs. But if you don;t mind that you can have a nice breakfast, with croissants, baguette, or pastry, yoghurt, coffe/tea and orange juise..only for EUR 6 pp.

Room Tip: nr 3 is good if you want a more quiet room

“Fantastic”

What a gem of a hotel. Our room was basic but very comfortable, we've never slept so well in a hotel bed. The restaurant is lovely and the food brilliant. Nathalie is a mine of information about the area and speaks excellent English which helps if your French is as bad as mine!

“A Lovely Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 March 2011

My wife and I had a night here in March 2011. We have stayed about half a dozen times before. We paid €103 for dinner and bed and breakfast. That included a 3 course dinner for two people, and the best breakfast I have ever had in France, for about £87, pounds sterling. That is phenomenal value. Luc is a good cook, and the welcome from Nathalie is always second to none.

We cannot recommend this place enough. It is simple, and there are no frills, but it is comfortable, friendly and great value. If you come, you must have a look at 't Kasteelhof, an Estaminet at the top of the hill. However, The Kerelshof, run by a smashing bloke called Dany, which is about 4 doors along from The Foch is the place to go. Dany loves his beer and is knowledgable about it. The locals are friendly, and his bar has piped folk music from Ireland, England, Brittany, Cornwall, Spain and other parts of the west of Europe. It's a special place, as is Le Foch.

Above sentence says it all. Though I must add it as one of the best all-round hotels I've ever stayed in.

“Foch Inn Great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2010

It's about time I updated my review on the Hotel Le Foch. This place is still lovely. €103 for half board remains fantastice value, even with the £ being at rock bottom. The food is very good, and the service and welcome as charming as ever. Nathalie and Luke are great hosts, and I have been back about half a dozen times over about the same number of years.

Rooms are roomy, and airy, and most of them overlook the square. Beds are comfy. Breakfasts are good. The nicest thing about the place is how welcome one is made. I'm prepared to run the risk of not getting in the next time I try and book in order to inform the Tripadvisor community that this remains a smashing little hotel in what must be the best loction in the whole departement.

Worryingly, The Kerelshof, a wonderful bar a few doors down remains closed. I saw the Patron, a bear of a man, resembling Gerard Depardieu's handsome younger brother, working on the interior, and he hopes to be open for the Easter Carnival. Fingers crossed. We had a drink at the Kasteelhof up the hill, by the windmill. It is worth checking out for its ambience- photos attached. I'd eschew eating there in favour of half board at the Foch, however.
