this time, i came with my friend, first week september. we were very lucky to catch up with a splendid sun, at times still scorching hot, being able to make use of the large pool everyday, brushing up our suntan. accommodation superb and no difference to last year. our lovely host being always there for any assistance required, nice breakfast, on special request lovely snacks und delicious dinner. trips to la cité and downtown shopping malls of carcassonne, and surrounding countryside where the harvest of grapes already began, interesting to watch. beautiful and bright evenings sitting outside trying to catch a falling star for our pocket. one thing still missing is going on a wine tour, hopefully next year. we'll be back!

Loved the location, the accommodation, Iiola the hostess and especially the fun wine tasting evening with Wendy. Had a mixture of days by the pool and day trips for the best of holidays. Good family holiday spot. Would definitely go back. Chris, Oxford

We were here a year ago and decided that we would like to return. It is a lovely place: beautiful house between vineyards only 1.2 km from the silent village Laure Minervois. There are 3 gites and 3 B&B. This time we were in gite Tulip - the middle size - that occured big and comfortable for us: parents with 1 children. As a year-ago we found gite very well equiped and very nice decorated. Threre is quite big swimming pool, grill area and very nice patio with chairs and tables. Tulip has additional small terrace.
This year we spend less time on the swimming pool due to the bad weather but we realised that if it is not rainning and it is bit colder we can enjoy sunny days there as there is a wall from one side separating perfectly from the wind.
If the weather is not good enough to stay at swimming pool there is a lot of places to visit. It is only 10-15 minutes from Carcasonne, 45 minutes from Narbonne and app. 1.5 hour from Touluse. There is a lot of castles and graves in the surrounding area. And obviously a lot of vine producers selling very nice choice of wines for very good price. Some are very close - in Laure Minervois are 2 while driving around next few - and some needs bit more travelling but are worth this like those in Limoux and Salses. Except wines there is also a lot of nice restaruants or if you like to cook: places where you can find a lot of local specialities like foie de canard i.e. duch liver that is famous here or oysters and nice selection of sea food that you can buy in supermarche in Carcasonne but also directly in Gruissan Plage.
In France usually people do not speak other languages than French except big cities and international hotels. Thus choicing domain de palatz you do not have the language problem as long as you are also English speaking.
Iola, the owner will support you in case you need any hints regarding very good restaurants and nice places to wisit. She is a very nice and very helpful person. Iola is living on the spot but you do not feel her presence as long as you need her support. Of course except her decoration in the house that make this place very cosy and beautiful.

We know that there is a lot of places all around the world worth to see so maybe next year we will check another. However, we know that it will be extremely difficult to find something at least comparable and we know we wish to be back again.

Totally fab place in a fab area of Minervois. Accomodation is made up of 3 gites in a converted barn with an amazing shaded BBQ area for lunch and dinner. Great for those 30 degree days!!! Iola, the perfect host, also accomodates 3 B&B room within the large house. My parents stayed there for the 2 weeks and loved the room. The bathroom was hugh and our kids loved having baths over there instead of our Gite. The pool area has lots of space and enclosed for kids safety. Its clean and although not heated still a great place to cool down. BBQ house beside the pool also. This is our 3rd time back in a row so that must be saying something for Iola and her beautiful place. I'd buy it off her tomorrow! Thanks Iola. Hopefulyl see you next year.
