We stayed at this small (40 bed) Family-run all-inclusive Sports Hotel in Feb 2007 and again in Feb 2008.
We have three children, and on the second occasion, we also introduced another family to the hotel (and skiing) - also with three young children.
The Hotel prides itself on being very child friendly, with attractive child rates, dedicated play areas and a children's club in season - both Summer and Winter.
The chief benefit of this hotel is its superb location - being as it is right at the base of its own ski area - so is truly ski-in/out in adequate snow conditions. The hotel is reached by its own bubble-car ski-lift (installed 2007/8) - and sits at 1300 metres, on a small plateau overlooking the village of Pettneu-am-Arlberg - which is located immediately at the eastern end of the Arlberg Road Tunnel.
The major resort of St Anton sits about 4km west, and so this hotel would also be suitable for mixed-ability parties, since the local Pettneu slopes are only really suitable for those of rank beginner or early intermediate proficiency.
The Hotel itself is warm, clean and tidy with Herr & Frau Windisch providing simple but filling fare. The Hotel prides itself on an all-inclusive model (full details on their website), which mean that 3 meals a day, and all refreshments during the day (incl. beer and house wines in the evening) are included in the day rates - making it an economic choice for a first family skiing holiday.
Entertainment is limited to card games in the bar, etc after a hard day's skiing - although there is also a small 'Igloo' themed tented nightclub (seats around 30), serving mulled wine, jagertee, etc - accompanied by the usual 'Europop'...
There is also a small (but nice) pool in the basement, together with a sauna - and hotel guests are also given a free day ticket to the 'Wellness Park' (smart new Sports Centre) in the village down in the valley below - with taxi travel also provided on demand.
Formerly, ski lift passes to the local slopes (about 16kms runs - mostly fairly narrow green/blue) were included, but I note that for 2010 in peak-season they are chargeable - nevertheless, this is still a good value hotel for families on a budget, who don't want the hassle of self-catering, possibly with family members who want to take advantage of the far more extensive slopes at nearby St Anton.
