We stopped here a couple of times for afternoon refreshments so can't rate the accommodation. The service was friendly and efficient. The beer garden is pretty and the pub has a lot of character. Unfortunately the whole place has a slightly run-down feeling as though it has been let go a bit.

This is a hotel that also has a bar & a restaurant. This rating is only for the restaurant that states that it closes at 2 pm but had no one to serve customers at 1pm.
The establishment doesn't have a separate listing for the bar or restaurant which makes it almost impossible to rate in Tripadvisor. A common problem

I, along with the thousands of other travellers, have no idea what the rooms that people stay in look like, but of you want lunch, dont stop after 1pm. Stop for a photograph.

Popped into this unqiue and kiwi icon hotel.. made famous by the speights southern man tv commercial.

Staff are friendly, however there is no table service... you have to order all your food and beer at the bar??

food on offer is good, i had a smoked chicken salad that had a strawberry vingerette on it??
looked very weird but nice all the same.

We stopped here in the winter time to take photos of the iconic facade but decided that we'd spend a night here in our summer holidays. We couldn't believe the size of the beer garden out the back. A beautiful stop to relax and unwind after many hours on the road. Food was good too. Excellent pate!
Room tastefully decorated to reflect the age of the building. Lovely linen and comfortable bed. Sadly no fridge in the room. Took a while to find the hotel's welcome brochure with info and also very annoying when none of the tv channels are tuned in properly. Disappointed that the spa was not in use. It's not just skiers who like to relax at the end of the day! All and all a great experience and I would recommend this to other travellers - you've gotta stay here once!
