“Great place”

Web site does not do justice, we loved it. It was the best place we stayed in in new Zealand.

Beautiful views in all directions. Fantastic veranda to take in the scenery. Rooms well apointed, big bed, large bathroom, immaculately clean. Meg was a wonderful host and full of great ideas about things to do

Food really good, left every morning completely stuffed.

Genuinely sad to leave

“A wonderful lodge”

The location may at a first glance seem far out, but the stay was fantastic. We had comfortable rooms, and a real nice view from the rooms. The lodge provided a very relaxed atmosphere. The food was excellent, drinks and snacks in the evening, a delicious dinner, a selection of fruits available, and a lunch packet if needed. Absolutely recommendable.

“pampered isolation with good access to Wanaka's facilities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2010

We stayed at Riverrun in February; our review has been delayed by travel and work. We picked the Lodge for location but also because of the breadth of activities and places to visit on offer in their programmes. We wanted a beautiful rural setting and also wanted to see Milford Sound, the glaciers and to walk. The flexibility of what was on offer met all our criteria. The service was also flexible, adaptable and excellent.

Access from Queenstown was by a beautiful mountain drive and the Lodge's position gave isolation but also access to the restaurants and facilities of Wanaka.

We ate in one night and enjoyed an excellent, well cooked meal and interesting wines. We were won over by the Pinot Noir of the area.

The fields were full of sheep and we had the luck to spot the New Zealand Harrier, a form of cuckoo (unsure which) and Californian Quail during our stay.

Nothing was too much trouble and we left hoping to return someday soon.

“Simply superb location and attention”

Riverrun is an absolute delight. Located a few miles away from Wanaka, with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside, we enjoyed a peaceful and very comfortable three days in this spacious Lodge. All our many requests for help (including a trip on Lake Wanaka, rafting, walking, restaurants) were dealt with most effectively. We could not have found a more lovely place to stay. Meg, who owns and runs the Lodge, deserves the highest praise.

“South Island Retreat”

Every accommodation gem has at least one detractor; and people with a gripe are much more ready to write comments than those who do not. As a result of the "Don't be Seduced" posting, I am compelled to provide this contribution.

My wife and I spent 4 nights at Riverrun in February 2010. A cross between a B&B and rural hotel, Riverrun is set in idyllic farm country, surrounded by hills. Peace and quiet, together with discreet and caring service from the owner, Meg, are assured. Both we and our fellow guests obviously appreciate the exclusivity that Riverrun provides. One of more than a dozen upscale hotels/lodges in which we stayed in Australia and New Zealand, Riverrun is unique - in all the best ways. We cannot comment on dinner, but Meg's home-cooked breakfasts were delicious.

Meg is the epitomy of of an excellent host and would do anything to make anyone's stay memorable. I invite anyone who wants more information to contact me.
