I found the room- ocean view- exactly as expected, bettter than nice, lovely flash bathroom, clean, very exceptable for our needs, although no seperate room for kids(in our price anyway!). We had a family of five and yes the kids beds are a combination of the lounge and rollaway, we found no problem with this and preferred it to most places where they insist that you rent a 2 bedroom apartment for a fortune.
Large variety of food in the, lagoon terrace resturant, something to suit everyone. The kids loved it as there was so much to choose from from pizza to roasts to curries really a huge array of choices and same for dessert including a chocolate fountain. Glad we had chosen to include food in our package. You can have as much as you like, a bit like sizzlers with more to choose from, same for breakfast. Lunch is different, where you pick from a menu. We ate most of our meals here as we purchased the food in our package and the kids ate free here. They also included some cordial type drinks with breakfast and lunch which was great. On the one occassion we ate at the Takali resturant we found the food not as tastey but was worth it one night for the views.
We got up early one morning and left our eldest teenager in charge and had our breakfast at the golden cowrie resturant. This was fantastic, had the place to ourselves, with 5 staff waiting on our every whim, lovely view, white tableclothes, felt like royalty. Wish we thought of this earlier to do again.
There is not a huge amount to do in Fiji. I am the type of travellor who loves to get out and see the real country, but I have to say I wouldn't bother in Fiji. As it is quite a drive to the resort from the airport you see enough. We ventured out and took the train to Sigatoka, wasn't worth the trip. Same thought with Nandi. Fiji is really a dirty place outside of the resorts - lots of rubbish around the beaches- not like you imagine from the brochures.
I found the prices for souvenirs fair in the resorts compared to the shops outside of the resorts.
Just remember Fiji is nothing like Australia and as such things like carseats aren't worried about, hire cars are old and horse riding involves workman's helmet, and rope.
My husband and son scuba dived really cheap compared to Australia. We all snorkelled for the first time as you can just wonder in from the beach-take your own snorkle or buy there though (standards).
No problem with drinking the water in this resort
The only real negative is the kids club. I was dissapointed and wouldn't leave my child there after seeing a child crying for his mum and nobody paying him any attention. I stayed while my little one had a play and cheered up the child. The fijian ladies didn't seem to care that I was basically doing their job for them and kept up their conversation between themselves. Seemed different for the older kids who had a bloke looking after them who was great and took them out around the resort fishing, or playing volley ball in the pool. They also enjoyed frog hunting at night and the kids disco.
