We stayed on a very cheap rate after ringing the hotel direct from Australia and doing better than the Accor website. When we arrived we found we were in rooms that hadn't benefitted from the hotel reurbishment in progress and they were extremely ordinary.
Told my wife and son not to unpack anything and went to reception and eventually got to speak to the duty manager who showed us a just completed room in a wing that still had workmen in the other rooms. He promised to give us the very nice newly refurbished room if we promised not to complain about noise from the workmen. We were happy with that deal and took the room and never had any hassles with the workmen.
Loved the pool and the new bar/reception area that looks straight out to Lami Bay and tiny island outcrops sticking up out of the water, fantastic view.
The restaurant was open air also looking out to the bay sitting right on the water, absolutely amazing location with fantastic food as well.
All the staff were really nice and we always make a point of being polite to anyone and everyone who may be working while we relax on holiday.
Caught local buses into Suva to see movies and walk around. Only got hassled once with the old ploy of being given a free wooden souvenir that they then carve your name in and make you buy but I was awake to that and stopped things before he got going and we walked on.
Hotel had some live entertainers who were really nice to our son and tried to get him up to sing but he was too shy.
Great hotel in great location. Used their tour desk one day to book day trip with motorised canoe ride, stop at "traditional" Fijian village where lunch was bbq lovo, (cooked with hot coals and buried in ground), as well as having fresh cocoanuts to drink and eat.
Also went for walk and swim in natural pool with thundering waterfall, a great day.
