We stayed at the Westin room 2703 for a week in Feb 2012. First impressions of the hotel were good. Check in was quick and easy and I was asked what bed configuration I wanted. As it was raining when we arrived we were driven to our room on a golf buggy and shown in. The rooms were clean and very good. One thing I have to say is that they are VERY dark. The air con was needed constantly, but the desired 18 degrees I dont think was ever achieved. I roasted at night and slept with just the sheet or nothing at all. Why they have so many quilts etc on the beds is beyond me. The beds however were very comfortable.
The resort itself is nice. The amenities are good. The food is VERY expensive. Its much cheaper to go to the port or over to the golf club or shops/cafes nearby. The alcohol is also very expensive in the resorts and they charge you an additional 20% tax on the listed price, so just be aware of that. If you are there on a public holiday it is an additional 10% on top of the 20%. That also goes for the food as well.
I found the staff in the shops to be very annoying. I did not like being followed around everywhere I went in the shop. I also was annoyed by the rude indo fijian staff.
They run a Bula Bus that takes you around the different resorts. The blue one costs you $7.00FJD and takes you to the port and around the resorts and the brown bula bus takes you just to the Sheraton and the villas. Be aware that this service only runs after three in the afternoon. One day we waited over 30 mins for the brown bula bus that reception staff told us would come and after 8 blue ones went past we complained, only to be told that they dont run at that time of the day.
Over all it was a pleasant stay. Just be aware of the costs of food and drinks in the resort. The rooms are good and adequate for our needs. Would I stay here again ? possibly!
