“Charming hotel on the outskirts of a stunning town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2010

My husband and I stayed in one of the Cosy Rooms at the Hotel Acheda. The room was delightful - nicely decorated and had all the amenities that we needed. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good.
The setting of the hotel is gorgeous - beautiful gardens. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us, otherwise it would have been really nice to sit on our little verandah. Staff at the hotel were pleasant.
Breakfast was really good. We had dinner one night in the restaurant, and while it was a ittle expensive (set menu) the food was very good.
The Hotel Acheda is a few kilometres out of Bonfacio and it would be awkward to stay there if you didn't have your own transport.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Acheda and would recommend it to anybody who wants to stay in a charming small hotel. Bonifacio itself is a stunning town.

“Think twice...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2010

Think twice before confirming your reservation, you must pay your visit in advance ! Heads up on the following surprises :
- This may well be the only "4" star hotel next to a camping.
- Expect a "show me the money" attitude from the unprofessional management
- Disappointing service (or lack there of)
- Despite the beautiful website, rooms are small, humid, and dark.
- Overpriced and oversold breakfast (25 euro per person)
We wish we had known all this before we confirmed our reservation.

“the room was a dank cave - simply no reason to stay here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2010

As a previous reviewer noted, the service was essentially non-existent. The rooms were literally created from an old barn and were dark and cave-like. When i mentioned to the receptionist that the room seemed like a cave, she said it was a "grotto." The bathroom was fairly well done, but the water in the shower was only luke warm. There seemed to be animals wandering around and the location was dismal, located on a national highway next to a campground. There do not seem to be many restaurant choices nearby and the dinner was quite expensive, euro 50 per person for the menu of the day, but the bottled water was euro 8 and wine euro 21 for your basic Corsican white. The menu did not have prices on it, presumably because the restaurant was embarassed by what they were charging. I can't think of any reason to stay here.

“Lovely staff and delicious food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2008

We had a lovely stay at this hotel - the last 2 nights of our holiday. The staff were friendly from the start and went out of their way to be helpful when we needed it.
The restaurant was great and despite testing out lots of different restaurants around Corsica on our 2 week holiday our best meals were here at A Cheda. It's small and intimate. The staff do a good job of being friendly and letting you get on with the holiday but incredibly helpful if required.

“Hotel Cheda”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2007

We were recommended this Hotel by some friends who had stayed there a few years before and although there wasn’t a major problem, it wasn’t the most relaxing of holidays.

The Hotel is rated a 2 star and the restaurant and some of the facilities area good but the rooms are a real let down. We had the room opposite the reception area and the curtain was so ill fitting you could see into the room and so we had to prop things against the window to keep it against the window. We did mention this to staff but they said although they know about it had not had time to fix the problem. We had also booked a room which said it would have sitting area (ie table & chairs) but it was so squashed we could not use it as it meant sitting next to the bed.
The restaurant is nice although the menu is quite limiting, approx one dish a day changed per night and as we had to book half board this was quite disapointing. They did have another menu but this was extra which when you have paid already you don't want to keep topping it up just for your evening meal. The staff were ok but not very friendly and not up to the standard we were led to believe existed. The main issue I had was there were several cats that roam around and are constantly passing through the restaurant area. I have a real issue with pets around food and although some of the staff tried to chase them out they have obviously allowed it to happen for some time for the cats to feel comfortable with it.
The pool is more of a quick dip area not big enough to swim in more hot tub size. Plenty of nice beached around so would suggest those instead.

On the whole it was an ok hotel but not a great find and very expensive all round for a 2 star.
