We arrived after a long drive and enjoyed the first impressions, long and steep staircase up to reception, jungle all around us and monkeys playing in the trees above , but , alas once we scaled the long walk up to reception ... no-one was there, so we sat and tried to find the office contact details, eventually a garden worker saw us and alerted a front office staff.
Quirky rooms and good size with two levels , toilet area only separated from room by a curtain so not for all! I loved being so close and personal with nature but would have preferred a few more comforts at the price . Jaccuzi was fun and worked well.
Dinner was unusual and ok, a ' seven ' course meal served quickly and well enough presented . The dining experience itself though was more exciting , we sat under a huge boulder , rain pouring around us in the forest and the sounds of nature made it a wonderful experience. Lighting at dinner is terrible and an elderly lady slipped on the way down to her bedroom and in fact we too , although a lot younger, had to watch our step.
Like many hotels in Sri Lanka that we stayed in, and I still cannot work out why, this has so much potential, but it is almost as if the owners are happy leaving the hotel to fall apart so long as tourists come, but soon reviews will be so bad that tourists will not come! Please owners, do your hotel up, it has the makings of a truly wonderful tourist experience.
Staff were all very kind and helped to the best of the ability.
