“Very luxurious...far from local”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

The hotel was very nice in every way - greeted with drinks while checking in, and our bags were brought right to luxurious rooms. The gardens were beautiful, and the pool was very nice. The beach was beautiful as well. A very nice place to watch the sunset. Food was well presented, plentiful, and with many, many options. My only complaints were that the hotel was a little impersonal (maybe unavoidable with such a large hotel), and there is no exposure to any elements of the actual people of the island (the hotel isn't in a town). Also, no internet in rooms is problematic.

“Desi Honeymooners dream .My detailed observations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My honeymoon experience from 1stFeb-7Feb in Mauritius was indeed heavenly. It is a 4 star priced higher than few 5 stars here & truly so.Moven pick resort is located in Bel Ombre Mauritius. This is in the southern part of Mauritius. The resort has the most beautiful beach with blue green water and few trees surrounding the coast line.

Specialities

The beach also has many sun bathing or tanning seats with small umbrellas where you can tan your self. The hotel has an amazing infinity pool for those who want a less adventure of the sea. There are few lovely hammocks at the hotel which can help you have a splendid view of the sea. Also on special request you can have a private dinning experience where the hotel sets up a small platform on the sea where meals are served. There are also many beach games organized by the hotel which is fun to take part in.

Bookings

We booked from Antilog Vacations which are experts in designing Mauritius packages.Their rates are cheap & services quite good.Them being a destination specialist travel agent , we also got a privilege of getting stayed in a good location room.Ideal time to book the resort is at least 2 months before to get cheap flights & rates.Visa is on arrival for Indians so there is limited worry

How is Spa ?

The Jacuzzi room as I called it is splendid to look at and looks like a room inside a palace. All the walls are made of glass & white stone reminding you of the ancient period. The flooring is covered with white & black stone and looks very enduring there are small rooms all over the side of the walls. This is called the aldana spa.

Which room to choose?

There are 8 different type of rooms in the resort. Deluxe room & beach front also come as family rooms where you can get 2 bedrooms if you’re accompanied with children. The resort also has the suites & villas. All rooms are very posh in their decoration & most of the rooms face the sea. All rooms include a private terrace or balcony. All rooms except the starting category deluxe rooms have free access to spa. All rooms are modernly equipped.

Food & Services-Not as cheap so book in advance

The hotel has many restaurants, my favorite is the le camaron named after a pond. The restaurant serves barbeques. The set up is like a huge white size umbrella is set, more like a picnic umbrella over a wooden table & 4 chairs. So you get the best of being outside. Depends on which table you choose you can get the view of the sea or the view of the lovely landscaped gardens. The gardens have grass and many coconut tress for us to see and cherish.

Honeymoon speciality

Candle light dinner , cakes , champagne , contraceptives everything is available. So need not worry. I am anyways on a 2 month long honeymoon trip to all over the world so dint needed that..haha

Overall

Thumbs up for this hotel

Am moving to Far east countries (utilising my sabbatical) after this, wud keep u guys updated !!

Room Tip: Can i say beach front room.It is good on the east side with spa adjacent

“Simply Outstanding......A perfect Honeymoon Destination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We went to this resort in 1st week of December.....our experience was so wonderful that we can never forget the time we spent there.....everything was superb.....Staff, Room service, food, property, surroundings.

Food:
I read so many reviews that people who are pure veg will have to suffer a lot. That's all crap. This resort have such a wonderful menu. They have menu of different countries everyday like indian, italian, mexican, korean etc. They have kept a special counter for indian food and it was there through out our stay. so Veggi people....do not worry and go ahead with it.

Room Service:
Room service is also very nice. In spite of having such a huge resort, they still managed to provide the service which was up to the mark.
However, when we checked in we had to wait a lot for the allocation of room. the normal check in time is 2 pm. we reached the resort at around 11.00 am. They handed over the room keys only around 2.30pm. Also at the time of checking out, our baggage came very very late.

Rooms:
The rooms were really really good. We booked the delux room. The luxury, the view, the facilities everything was awesome. All the rooms have attached balcony with it. That concept was really good. The Bath tub, Basin, Wardrobe everything was fantastic. The most imp thing that i found was electronic safe.

Facilities in Resort:
The best thing which we enjoyed was swimming pool. The pool is so beautiful that u dont want to come out of it. and it has trees on one side where u can rest for entire day in a cool breeze under its shadow having pool in ur front and sea on ur back. Heaven....
The sports club was also good. not so great as they dint had many options. they had Table Tennis, Tennis, Gym.You can do Cycling but u need to pay extra for that.
All the water sports activities are not free. Those which are on the house are worth doing once. there are so many other things such has Spa, Bar etc. which are also superb.
5 Stars for this category.

On an All a worderfullllllllllllll experience of our lives and would definitely suggest who want to have a wonderfull time with each other in paradise should visit and stay in this resort.

Room Tip: Be very specific with the view that u want. They have high gown coconut trees which obstructs the se...

“Tough Stopover”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

people found this review helpful

After having spent two weeks in Africa we had a stopover in Mauritius on the way back home to Sydney. It unfortunately is not that close to the airport so the trip to and from our flight tainted our stay there. The room was damp and not overly clean. Unfortunately before we could stop him, one of our kids drank some bottled water but with the cup provided in the bathroom which has to be one of the worst harbingers of bacteria in a hotel. Sure enough few hours later he started vomiting and felt ill as we were preparing to check out. The food presentation, cleanliness was also average. There was a slime build up at the bottom of the pool that made it very slippery which added to the general feel that the hotel was a little tired. We had stayed at Sugar Beach Resort for a week on the way to Africa and i think we were spoilt by the luxurious facilities so it was always going to be a tough stopover. To top it all off the airport transfer was arranged 4 hours prior to the flight, was one hour late picking us up but we still had plenty of time to waste at the airport which is not the best airport in the world. being a family of 5 we could not take a normal taxi at our convenience which would have made it a lot easier.

Room Tip: Not too close to the airport if considering it as a stopover destination.

“Honeymoon in Heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

The trip was for our honeymoon and the beginning of our life together could not have been from a better place. Our room was on the first floor with a balcony overlooking the swimming pool. The setup of the room was quite amazing- spacious and well decorated with lovely interiors, an open dressing area with a huge bathtub............all in all a very royal feeling. All the meals were really sumptuous with huge variety to choose from for us-the veggie couple. The service in the rooms as well as in the restraunt was impeccable and it would make us feel like guests. The resort premise is also well made. A personal beach with water sport activities like kayaking, peddle boat, glass bottom boat, snorkelling, etc on the offer, enough cots to just lie down and soak the sun, a large swimming pool to enjoy and lovely lawns to just roam in each others' company.

Room Tip: If you are going for a standard room, the rooms facing the swimming pool give the best look. The del...
