We stayed in December. The staff was great very friendly and professional. The rooms are in very good shape. We stayed in the cottage which was worth the extra charge. Standard rooms are large and nicely finished. The food was good. The landscaped and the grounds are breathtaking. With Mount Kenya as the back drop. The animal orphanage on site is a great place to learn about endangered animals.
They have cheaper rooms called the river walk rooms these rooms have no TV and look over the woods and are hidden from the main building. Still very nice.

“Not worth the money”

Spectacular grounds and elegant rooms, but given the amount of money that the hotel charges per night the service was terrible and food was mediocre. The staff were friendly and are trying hard but need some serious training to service a hotel of this calibre. We will not be returning.

“Disappointing after great expectations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

I have been to mount Kenya s c before and was expecting its reputable excellence to shine through once again. I have to say my new year's experience was terribly disappointing. The safari club sacrificed its reputation to cater for far too many people over new year's. Consequently the service was terrible- 15 minutes for a simple soda water and I was sitting just in front of the bar. At breakfast on new year's day I asked for an umbrella to be brought to our table outside as the sun was extremely strong. The waitress' response was 'ah maybe you move' in those exact words. I would have expected much more in terms of service and customer relations from a fairmont property.
New year's eve dinner was set in a large dining room adjacent to the main dining room. The chairs and tables were not nicely dressed and the food was terrible.
We ordered champagne and glasses the day before we requested then to bring it to the room. We specified a time and requested that it was important they delivered these at that time as we were to have dinner shotly after. I actually had to call the f and b manager on the phone 4 times to ask where our champagne and glasses were, and they ended up being 45 mins late.
Really disappointing. Horse riding is one of the activities at the club. I noticed that the shoeing of the horses is being done wrong. The angles are terrible and within a short time these horses' hooves will be in a terrible state. The grooms do the shoeing whereas they should get a professional farrier.

“This place has gone down.”

I have been going to mount Kenya for years as it is my favourite property in east Africa. My last visit on new years was a complete disaster. We waited for over an hour just to be served dinner on new years eve. The staff was running around in complete confusion. The manager was nowhere to be found. We had to call six times just to have a simple order of drinks brought to the room. The rooms, although beautiful, have not been maintained. Door handles had fallen off and lights in the room did not work. I hope things change as it is a shame for such a wonderful property be in such a bad state.

“Needs some serious Management”

Lovely location, lovely gardens and nice rooms! This place does noty reflect Fairmont services at all it should be the Top resort in Kenya. There is better quality places to visit in Kenya. I was expecting Mt Kenya Safari Club to be like Fairmont Dubai. The staff have very little or no idea of Hotel services! Try ask for Tartar Sauce ! The staff are not trained the F&B side needs serious attention dear Fairmont! Your GM needs to pay more attention and walk around not hide away, never did he come round once to say Hi or check out what's going on in the restaurant! Its obvious there is staffing issues! Why is dinner Buffet, and noisy kids in the dinning area !
