We decided to 'plurge' a bit and stay at Flanigan's. We got a standard room with a King bed (you have to love a place that does King beds instead of Queen!). Check-in was a breeze. The lobby is well-appointed, nice and casual. If you're looking for pamphlets with information on the area, the lobby is your best bet.
The room itself was a standard sized room. I did appreciate the fact that the sink and counter space was outside of the toilet/bathing area. This helped with getting ready in the morning and getting set for bed. It also provided a place to put everything (some hotels have sink counter space that barely fits the sink!).
The great thing about Springdale is that there is a free shuttle to Zion National Park that runs frequently. Flanigan's is across the street from a stop running to the Park and right next to a stop coming from the Park. A quick ride on the shuttle and you're at the entrance to Zion National. So, location is great.
I will admit that parking was somewhat limited when we arrived. We checked-in just after 5pm and most of the spots had already been taken. It wasn't until 9:30pm that night that we had a spot with 'direct' access to our room. The parking lot itself is not huge, so it wasn't a big problem. I wonder if they should number their spots and assign them, or if that's more of a hassle than it's worth?
For me, the BEST part of the hotel is the Spotted Dog. Dinner was great, although, I wil admit that it wasn't the best lamb shank I've had. Still a great meal. The service was great and attentive. There are nice touches like glass bottles with water and lemon slices. Morning was the real treat...$7.95 for a full buffet breakfast! $7.95! This is no Denny's...this is real breakfast food at a great price. The coffee was fantastic (I'm a coffee person, so I mean this). On top of the great value...the view is unbelievable. After finishing my meal, we just sat at the table enjoying the view...sipping away at our coffee. If you manage to get a clear-sky, sunny morning like we had...take advantage of it by sitting on the patio for breakfast. WELL worth the money (it's only $7.95!).
All-in-all, I would stay at Flanigan's again. It's cozy, convenient and the staff is great.
