“It is all about the location.”

Reserved One King Bed- Lodge Room $132+taxes/night for a winter visit in Jan. The on-line reservation worked well and, additionally we received email weather advisories/road closures prior to our visit. Overall, for the price expected a few more luxuries in the room. The room was pretty average and showed sign of wear but, we were not here to spend time in the room. The location in the park is what you are paying for. You truly can leave your room and walk to Yosemite Falls. The room was warm (important in Jan), with hot water showers, comfortable bed and wireless internet. There was also a TV and a variety of channels. There were NO coffee makers or microwaves. If you want morning coffee, hike across the compound to the cafeteria (we did receive coffee/tea coupons for the cafeteria upon check in). We had a ground level room which in theory could be handicap accessible however there is a substantial threshold which would be a bit of a challenge for a wheelchair. See a couple pictures I posted showing the entry area. The landscaping around our room was frankly pathetic (see picture) however there were plenty of world-class natural areas nearby to take your breath away! Vehicle parking was convenient, near our room and free.

“taste of monopoly.”

Dirty Rooms, lake of service in name of conservation. High price because they can since there are no other choices to stay in the park.

Rooms are dusty and filthy. this was my second stay. Dining staff is very rude. Food is OK but again over priced. I cant justify the cost.

“Special place for the holidays”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

No white Christmas in Yosemite Valley this year, but the Yosemite Lodge was a great place to gather with family for a few special days. Rooms were small but comfortable, especially sine we had all of the great outdoors beyond our door. Hard to call the rate "reasonable" but probably appropriate for a destination resort. We only ate in the cafeteria, as the dining room had limited choices and was quite pricey, especially for Christmas dinner.

Room Tip: You need to ask for quyeen size beds -- the two of us got one, the four in the next room had doubles...

“so in love with this place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I LOVed it! The lodge was comfy. It is a 'lodge,' not a resort. We had a little patio facing the river & bike trail. It was so lovely. The autumn foliage renewed my senses and we loved the proximity to the super easy trail to the lower Yosemite water fall. Great location.
The restaurant/cafeteria was good enough and cheap enough. Actually, the breakfast burrito was excellent!
The room needed only one thing - coffee maker!
Oh, and the heater went out the second night but w/the extra blanket, we stil slept fine. The nature shop/gift shop doesn't open till 11am. What's up with that? Did think of the Stayner murders when I saw some of the employees who looked a bit creepy.
However, Yosemite Valley is so cozy & beautiful & amazing... The miwoks were the luckiest people to have inhabited there.
I'm coming back next November.

“Just like school camp”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

This place has a silly 5pm check in. The staff seem to be programmed only to do just a few specialised tasks and are not much use beyond that. The accommodation blocks are poorly heated, poorly themed and are in need of renovation. Given that the hotel has a captive market, enjoys high occupancy with high prices there is no excuse for not having better quality. We did do our homework before we got there but were still disappointed with school camp like atmosphere and attitude permeating throughout. It was not a bad experience but in the end this place is merely nothing more than a bed for the night and a cafeteria breakfast to fill the stomach. It really needs work from the management to make this place a cosy little retreat, which it aint.

Room Tip: Aks for a renovated room - if they exist.
