“If you are going to Valdez from Anchorage just stay here and not in Valdez.”

We traveled from Anchorage to Valdez for a kayak tour of the Columbia Glacier. There were not many lodging options in Valdez and we ended up staying the first night at an awful B&B. There really isn't a lot to do in Valdez for an evening. After kayaking the next day we left Valdez and stayed overnight at the Copper River Princess Lodge and we all wished we had just stayed there the first night and then made the drive into Valdez (fyi, it would be a bit of a drive but worth it). The Copper Princess was clean, reasonably priced, and had amazing views. The lobby was both beautiful and relaxing. We also enjoyed playing shuffle board and having drinks outside while enjoying the views. We were fortunate that when we went, there were no tour buses. I am not sure if that would have affected our stay. We were on the second floor and it was nice and quiet! Awesome lodge to relax and rest well!

“See Wrangell-St.Elias”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I had some doubts before making a reservation at this Princess Wilderness Lodge since it's a stop for cruise passengers and I hate large crowds invading a hotel! .. but we had a comfortable relaxing stay here. The lodge is very well maintained and the views are beautiful. We had several excellent meals at the restaurant and an overall nice experience. Would go back.

“a room with a view”

We stayed here for only 2 nights but 2 of the best nights of our AK trip. The staff is very knowledgeable of the area and helpful. The best part of our stay was the opportunity to view the northern lights. You can sign up to have the staff wake you if the northern lights are in view. We were lucky to have them come out before we even went to bed. We could have watched from our room but chose to join what seemed like the entire hotel outside. Standing just outside the back doors we were treated to one of the best light show mother nature offers!
Our room was great...clean plenty of space and comfortable bed. The restaurant was open late and food was excellent. I would stay here again without thinking twice!!

Room Tip: all rooms offer a great view

“Loved it!”

I went out to Copper Center twice during the summer so I could try my hand at the amazing fishing opportunities that are found nearby.
When I started looking around for places to stay in Copper Center I figured the Princess Lodge was going to be too pricey for me, but I called anyways and got an excellent price, both times.
The Lodge itself is very nice, and clean.
The only thing I had an issue with is that not all rooms get Wi-Fi. The first time I stayed there I could pick up the signal in my room, but the second time I couldn't. It wasn't a huge deal because there is a common area where there is Wi-Fi, there are comfortable lounge chairs (overlooking the big picture windows).
Will stay again for sure. Also, if you are interested in fishing, I had a great day with River Wrangellers, one of the highlights of my summer.

Room Tip: If you MUST have Wi-Fi in your room you might want to check before you book, since some rooms don...

“Caught a beautiful rainbow too”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

After driving in the Alaska wilderness for days and seeing small towns and rugged landscapes, it was a serendipity to check into this Princess Wilderness Lodge. We walked around its meticulously maintained lodge and grounds, we feasted our eyes on Mt Drum, its foothill, and a beautiful rainbow. Our room also had a beautiful view of Mt Drum, so we watched the sunset and its slow darkening. The restaurant food was delicious. We chose hotels for this two week driving tour of Alaska by surfing the website for hotels, and we wish we knew about the five Princess Wilderness Lodges. If we did, we would have stayed in all five and enjoyed our trip in the great outdoors of Alaska coupled with the wonderful amenities of these lodges. Our trip would have been perfect. Especially at the Denali National Park, we booked a hostel and paid three nights sight unseen. We were very disappointed that the $80/night bought us a 8'x10' plywood box with bunk beds, and it was half an hour drive to the Park entrance. If we booked at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge located at the Park entrance, we would have had great amenities, delicious food, and wonderful scenes.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Mt Drum.
