We planned on taking advantage of the after-Christmas sales at the Waterloo Premium Outlets. Being avid shoppers, we knew that we would need a full day to do our shopping. We looked for a place to stay overnight so that we could hit the ground running as soon as the stores opened the following morning. Our criteria were proximity, low cost (preferred to spend our money at the outlets than on a luxurious hotel room), non-smoking, and clean - a place to have a good night's sleep in a clean room and have a warm shower. Microtel met all of these conditions. Breakfast was included too - albeit a basic one (cold and hot cereal, muffins, toast, bagels, coffee, juices), but again spending at the outlets was more important to us so this saving was great. Read the other reviews and agree with the amenities - hand and bath soap, one small shampoo, no conditioner, did have a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, coffee maker with coffee/non-dairy creamers/sugar, no couch but a window seat and a desk and chair. We were able to walk to the grocery store right across the street to get snacks. You can get beer and coolers there but not wine. We'd definitely stay here again for the same purpose (outlets). Note: prices vary depending whether it's off season or peak season. A room like ours, which was $60 + taxes, would be closer to $100.)
