I'm a business person who travels frequently. Interestingly, the Courtyards in the DC area have been remodeled, by someone who thinks it is "hip" to have giant TV screens in the lobby blasting noise from all directions, fighting with the hotel stereo system. The restaurants have been replaced by some sort of Starbucks imitation, however since they serve not only coffee, but other more elaborate things, in the morning you get to stand in line behind people ordering full breakfasts, while you just want a black coffee to go. Standing in line while having 3 TV sets blasting you plus the hotel music, makes for a very poor start to a day on the road.
The business centers of the hotels are placed in the middle of this audio mess, which means it is very difficulty to concentrate on what you are doing if you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of having to actually use the business center to do work. While I was waiting in the lobby for a business colleague to attend a meeting, I was treated to watching a guy in his tee shirt, sweats and slippers microwaving some frozen mac and cheese at the microwave station just opposite the check-in desk.
When I am on a business trip I need to have a quiet, restful experience at my hotel, not an opportunity to get blasted by noise while having to deal with losers microwaving their frozen food in a microwave.
