This is my first stay at a Homestead Suites, and definitely my last. For those reviewers that gave this place five stars, all I can say is you must have very low standards.
This hotel is located in a very nice area, but is extremely run down, shabby, and could certainly be cleaner. They have no amenities whatsoever, and you actually have to pay extra if you want your room cleaned daily. Thankfully I was only staying here one night. The towels smelled funny and the bathroom had lots of rust.
The rooms have a kitchenette which meant the entire hotel smelled funny, especially when walking up and down the hallways. Think of multiple people cooking microwave meals.
Although this is a safe area, the lack of security concerned me. At one point the front desk was unoccupied with basically a sign reading no one is here. Anyone could walk in off the street and walk into a ground level room.
To top it off, one of my colleagues observed a cleaning lady cooking her breakfast in one of the rooms. I can only hope it was unoccupied.

I am a contractor, and have stayed for a week or more at this hotel three times this year, and several times before. Affordable, clean, convenient, very much a tourist and contractor hotel.

My last visit was in March 2010. Today there was no dish soap (and the hotel is very clear that even if you order room cleaning, dishes are not included), only one kitchen towel, and it is obvious that the vacuum only goes about an inch and a half from the wall, because along the wall is dust, dirt, potato chip crumbs, etc. ick. There were long black hairs on my sheets ( I always disrobe the bed checking for bedbugs), hope those are from the housekeeper, though the sheets smell and look clean. I've never seen these problems before, so I am guessing there's a new housekeeper?

I travel eight months out of the year. I have stayed long term all over the country and this is the first time I have been to my wits end with a hotel. Let me give one positive before I go on. The location is within walking distance from my work so for the next few months I couldnt have picked a better place. This is the only reason I will continue to pay to stay here.
My issue is the cleanliness and the lack of concern the office has to solve my problem. I have been here two days shire of two weeks and have yet to have my room cleaned. I have talked to the cleanning staff and have gone to the office and still no resolution. I was told last night that the room would be cleaned today but I came back to the room after work only to find that nothing was done. I work in a service industry and would lose every customer I have if I showed the same lack of respect that I have received here.
I hope that this does not fall on deaf ears ot there. I can see through other comments I am not alone in this.
As a person who spends thousands of dollars a year for hotels, I will call Homestead only as a last resort in the future.

We chose this hotel because of the location to the Metro stop into the Washington DC area and because it offered a kitchette. We were extremely happy with our choice. The kitchette had everything we needed for the week. The staff was friendly and helped us with information about the area. The room was clean, pleasant, well lit and comfortable. This hotel is a great value for the cost!
