This has been the fourth time I spent a part of the Christmas holiday at this Residence Inn. Usually we have a first floor room at the end of the building. This time we had a third floor room – Room 306.
The rooms appeared to have been updated pretty recently. Warm , bright colors, new carpet, bedding, cabinetry and countertops. Good room layout with plenty of power outlets. Great water pressure in the shower.
The only negative with this room was that you were able to hear the elevator “ding” whenever it stopped on the floor. For a brief period you would hear the conversations of the other guests as they departed the elevator but that quickly went away as they entered their rooms. I would suggest requesting a room a distance away from the elevator if you are a light sleeper.
Another minor quirk was that the maid kept stopping by to try to clean our room even though we had the sign out stating that no service was needed. In hindsight, I should have just called the front desk to let them know that we did not require it. English was not her first language and I was not smart enough at the time to just call downstairs.
The hotel’s location is pretty good. It is close to the two Tyson mall locations. A McDonalds, a Middle Eastern restaurant, Subway are all less than a block away.
For those staying over the holidays … if you plan to require the hotel shuttle check before booking your room. There was a sign on the counter stating that the shuttle would not be available for a certain number of days during the holiday weekend.
