I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. It was NASTY! The Owners or managers were extremely RUDE. Because we stayed 2 nights, instead of changing the sheets they just turned them over.
Used the same sheets. The rooms were unclean the service was the worse that I have ever seen anywhere. Please save your money and sleep in your car!

“event space very dirty and not disability-accessible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

I did not sleep at this hotel, but I did consider this hotel for an event (reception), as it would've allowed for out-of-town guests to have a nice place to stay at the same place as the event. The photos looked really nice, the hotel rates were low, and in online talks with the manager, he offered what seemed like a great rate for their event space, so I went to check it out.

However, as soon as I drove onto the property it looked dirty, isolated, and dingy, almost like it was abandoned property. When I went in, it was clear that the lobby was being remodeled, which was fine. However, there was a lady lounging in the lobby who appeared that she was loitering (homeless?) and not actually working there or staying there. The hallway and stairwell seemed dingy.

The good thing about the event space was the huge stockpile of hosting dishes and leftover party decorations in the open closet at the corner of the room. But that was about it for good things. The event room was dirty, with worn and stained chairs, paint peeling off of walls, dirty tables, and frayed and worn carpet. It also smelled "old." There was a bathroom that looked like an old hotel bathroom (tub and all) off to the side, as if it used to be a suite or a couple of hotel rooms with the wall knocked out, and was converted into makeshift "event space."

To top it off, the event space was on the second floor and according to the manager, there is no elevator and so it would not accommodate people with disabilities. This was very important because a few of my event attendees were either wheelchair-bound or had other mobility issues, so having an ADA-compliant event space (which after having attended numerous conventions, conferences, and other events held in hotels of varying levels, I thought ADA-compliant event space at a hotel was standard) was a must. I chose not to go this route, of course.

The manager was nice, and that was appreciated. However, as dirty and unkempt as this place was, I could not imagine having an event there at any price, and I definitely couldn't imagine sleeping there!

“Okay for the price, but declining”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

We've stayed at this HoJo over the years while in Cincy for a trip to Kings Island with family and friends. They are remodeling, but all I can say is it's a process. A long one. The staff have been consistently friendly and helpful. However, when we checked in this time, they made a point of saying we should let them know if there was any problem with the room. It was almost like they knew there were problems and they were waiting for us to find them. The problem with one of the rooms was one of the mattresses. It looked like they put another box spring on top of the bottom box springs. There was no way anyone could sleep on that. I went to the front desk, told the woman the problem and they gave us another room with no hassles. That room was fine except for the a/c. I can't really say for sure that it didn't work, but I know it did not work well. It was 96 degrees the day we checked in and the air was not on in the room. I don't know if the aging a/c unit just couldn't keep up, or if no a/c unit was meant for that kind of weather. In either case, the room never got below about 78.

The way I see it, you get what you pay for. We paid $50/night for the room. The next place up in price in the area (which is where we wanted to be) was $80/night. We travel on a tight budget and needed the 60 bucks we saved on the two rooms. If money is no object, stay somewhere else. If you need basic function from an old but basically clean hotel with nice staff, then stay here.

“howard johnson should get their name back”

we booked 5 rooms and the reviews we saw decent and it was cheap with good reason. Stated "newly renovated" , they were painting, i think, but that is no excuse for lots of hairs on sheets, towels and other things. One in our group tried to take a shower, the nozzle fell off. There were holes in the some walls, our room had no door knob for the bathroom. One of the other rooms, their toddler found an unopened condom. To say the place wasn't clean is very big understatement. Manager did fix the shower nozzle. One family changed rooms 4 times trying to get a decent one. Something major was broken (air conditioner) or smelled horrible or just as filthy as the first room. When one family complained at the front desk, the manager on duty followed her all the way back to the room, in heated discussion. As we tried to check out, one family waited a little too late and was forced to stay an hour or so longer due to a domestic brawl in the next room and the police being called to the scene. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!
