“Quick weekend away to Cincy”

Stayed here at the Mariemont Inn based on many reviews here for a quick get away with my wife. Excellent and very clean room. Large bathroom with walk in shower with two heads and a large whirl pool tub was very nice. The whirlpool tub does take some time to fill, so just be prepared for that. They had plenty of hot water in the building so it was not an issue fill up late. Bed was super nice with very comfy pillows and mattresses. TV and fireplace all worked very well and had good picture. Complimentary Wi-Fi access was super fast (18-20mbs up and down). We did not eat dinner at The National Exemplar, but had breakfast there and it was fantastic with very good prices. Very nice place to explore around the hotel with a movie theater (state of the art by the way), a Graeter's Ice Cream and the Dilly Deli with all its wine. Overall, we plan on visiting again soon.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms seem to have the less noise. Our room was very quiet.

It’s great to hear you will be coming back again! Staying at the Inn and enjoying what the Village has to offer is perfect for a quick getaway. It sounds like you were in our suite and yes, that tub is big! I’m also glad to hear you enjoyed our complimentary wireless access. We have fiber optic connections to our local phone company which allows us to have incredibly fast connections. They also provide us our High Definition television content, which that technology is absolutely amazing to me. Speaking of technology, the movie theatre you mentioned as state of the art just completed an amazing upgrade to the most advanced digital projection system on the market today. We’re lucky to have such an amazing theatre literally steps from the Inn. The Dilly Deli Café, also located a few steps from the Inn, features one of the city’s largest selection of wines and craft beers. Even if you don’t drink wine or beer, it’s fascinating to walk around the shop and look at the unique (and sometimes quirky) bottle labels. Thanks again for your review!

“Hotel could not have been better...restaurant so-so.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

First, the reviewer who called this a "pricey" hotel must be comparing it to Red Roof Inns. My partner and I would call it "near-luxury" and a very good value for the money. We checked into room 313 - an end of the hall room with extra windows and an electric fireplace. We had asked for a 3rd floor room due to a couple of previous reports of noise from above.
The reception person was friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful, with higher-end furnishings and a luxurious bath with newer subway tile, granite counters, and dual-action shower plus tub. The disappearing painting to reveal the fireplace was novel. It was fun to literally go next door for a film or Graeters ice cream. The memory foam bed was unique. What's not to like!!

It sounds like you both had a great time at the Inn and were able to take advantage of some of the fun attractions in the village like the threatre and ice cream parlor! Your guestroom was one of our Executive King guestrooms and one of my favorites. It has, as well as many other of our guestrooms, a lot of windows. The Inn was built back in the 1920’s when air conditioning was basically when you opened up your windows. Even though we now have individual temperature controls in each guestroom, our guestrooms typically have a lot of natural light due to the number of windows per room. Finally, I’m sorry to hear you didn’t have an excellent experience with our restaurant. A new menu was just launched this week so I hope you will come back and give us a second chance! Happy travels!

“Pittsburgh Steelers Fans, went to Paul Brown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Every one of the reviews helped. My husband and I are very picky when it comes to paying to stay somewhere. Being that this was the first time away from the kids that are now teens, I wanted it to be nice. The Inn, the shops, the area to take a walk, was all that we had wished for.
I really like that the manager replied to other reviews. Do not regret staying here, Would come again. Would ask that staff could be up on city events for a couple to go out on the town.

Room Tip: loved the slant ceilings, the hidden tv, and the ability to OPEN the window for fresh air.

Thank you so much for your review! Even Pittsburgh Steeler fans are welcome in Cincinnati, although some die-hard Bengals fans may disagree with me! I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed your time at the Inn. Also thank you for uploading some pictures from the Inn and surrounding area you took during your stay with us. One of you pictures shows a sign in the hallway directing guests to our “Ice, Soda, & Such” (our vending room). This sign, as well as all of the other general direction and guestroom door signs were hand-cut and designed by my father who will have owned the Inn for 50 years this September. He has a real keen attention to the smallest details. Thank you as well for the suggestion on staying current on our city’s events. I’ve started working on a plan with my staff to keep them updated on the city’s weekly events as well as installing a “Local Recommendations” information center in our Business Center where guests can even recommend to each other attractions they enjoyed while visiting Cincinnati. We hope to see you again soon!

“Very pricey hotel and no free breakfast.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Don't get me wrong, this is a very nice hotel, but I was very dissapointed when I learnt that breakfast was not provided. I have stayed in dozens of BW and I guess I didn't read the fine print, but it was a surprise to learn that there was no breakfast especially considering what we paid for the room.

There also isn't a microwave in the room. There is a loud flushing toilet though, and my favorite "coffee maker in the bathroom" Come on... for such a classy hotel, is there no better place, I would bet that the owner of this property does not serve the guests in his home from a coffee maker that he keeps in his bathroom. There is a small fridge built into wall – but guess what, it has no freezer. We could hear ppl walking in room overhead but overall I would rate this as a quiet hotel.
It is a lovely, elegant historic motel, in a nice area of Cincinnati.
There is a Tempurpedic mattress on the bed– which surprisingly we found uncomfortable. There is a chair with an ottoman and end table, a fireplace, a closet with a door. There is lots of lighting. The computer desk slides out from under another desk/table. There is a long low dresser nice for putting suitcases on. The bathroom has separate switches for the lighting and the fan. There is a HUGE glassed in shower with 2 shower heads (one overhead) You need to read the instructions though which intimidated us from trying it. I mean if it just that complicated to operate that you have to provide instructions.. well we were just too tired after driving 10 hours to figure it out. There is a large flat screen TV on the wall behind a picture which rolls up with the touch of a button.
There is an elegant restaurant and a pub on site which we enjoyed, the meal was delicious and reasonably priced. We will stay here again next time in Cincinnati.

Room Tip: Get a top floor room unless you like people walking on your head while you try to get to sleep.

Please let me start by apologizing for any inconvenience you might have experienced at the Inn. I am glad that overall you enjoyed your stay and would come back again. We have added a new rate plan for 2012 that does include breakfast with that new rate. Your review is absolutely correct; there were tradeoffs made when we renovated our historic Inn. Our guestroom refrigerators use a technology called absorption refrigeration where it uses a heat source to drive its cooling system. What this means to our guests is they will not hear a compressor running throughout the night, creating a quieter experience. But not having a freezer was the tradeoff. We do have a freezer available at the front desk for guests who have freezer items during their stay. There is also a microwave available in our vending room for guests to use any time. Locating the coffeemaker in the bathroom was another decision we made because it is the only area of the guestroom that has a tile floor and solid surface countertop. This prevents our carpets from being stained with coffee spills, the wood tabletops in the guestroom from being damaged, and has the easiest accessible electrical outlets as well as a water source. It was another tradeoff we had to make since we did not have the space for kitchenettes in the guestrooms and we felt we still should provide a coffeemaker. You are correct; I wouldn’t serve coffee out of my bathroom at my home. That’s why I’ve tried to setup other coffee options such as complimentary fresh brewed coffee every morning in the lobby, access to fresh brewed coffee via room service or in our restaurant, and even having a Starbucks next door for the devoted coffee fans. Also during the renovation we poured a layer of special soundproofing concrete on top of the existing wood floor between the guestroom floors to minimize sound. It has worked very well but I understand it does not completely stop all sounds. Your Room Tip is a very good one for any hotel! Requesting the top floors of a hotel usually means a quieter stay from noises both inside the hotel as well as from the outside (mostly with the bigger downtown hotels that have street traffic). I do want you to know I appreciate your review and I really do hope you will stay with us again the next time you are in the city. Please feel free to call me with any other thoughts or concerns you have. Happy Travels!

“Unexpected Gem.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Working in the area, and was recommended this Hotel.
Can not believe it was a Best Western, different class altogether.
Clean, friendly , costly compared to some other Hotels, but in thi scase you really do get what you pay for.
Would re-book without hesitation.

Thank you for staying with us! I’m glad you had enjoyed your time here. We are proud to be part of Best Western’s Premier descriptor group of hotels –there are only a handful of these properties in North America. The Mariemont Inn is also part of Historic Hotels of America, a great program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. You are always welcome at the Inn; we would love to have you stay with us again.
