Location is obviously very good...right across from Fountain Square. Outside of that...not a lot going for the Westin. Granted we only booked a basic king room with no view...but I have been in lower end Marriott properties with more charm. We stayed on the 13th floor...maybe others floors are nicer...dingy colors, dark dirty carpets and room doors that look like steel prison doors. In the room the bed was great...usually the trait of a Westin...but everything else was not...stained bathtub, drain clogged so you showered with water up to our calfs and a sprinkler cover almost fell in my wifes head from the ceiling in the bathroom. Amenities were not good as well...no real hotel restaurant...there is a cafeteria style one in the building lobby with so so food and starbucks coffee that was not even hot. We had drinks at the late night bar...good crowd and entertaining bartenders...but 9 bucks for a 7 and ginger....and 12 bucks for a cosmo? NY prices in Cincinnati. While they don't own the building they are in I assume...they should at least get some security at the entrance...several sketchy folks hanging ut at the entrance due to the cold outside. While I can't complain too much for the price I paid ($111 a night)....I will spend more and stay somehwere better next time.
