“Well-maintained motel convenient to I-71, and by foot to restaurants and shopping centers”
The front of the motel faces the parking lot and a McDonalds across another expanse of parking lot at the back of a White Castle. The back of the motel faces a service lane at the back of a row of shops. There are skips (dumpsters) and access to maintenance vehicles. Any noise at the back would probably be less frequent than that from the front parking area but perhaps louder given that it could involve service trucks and the like.
Katya and Peter at reception were pleasant, helpful and cooperative. You can collect a free copy of USA Today from the counter.
Quieter rooms are on the top floor at the end of the corridor farthest from the lobby and breakfast room. The room was spacious, well-maintained and adequately appointed, including a square table and two chairs. The two double beds and pillows were comfortable. Soundproofing, between rooms and from outside (given the double-glazed windows) seemed adequate. The sound of the fan in the heater-air conditioner unit under the window covered extraneous noises.
The bar fridge was useful for keeping beverages; above it was a microwave oven. We enjoyed having coffee-making facilities in the room (though the lobby had coffee available all day and a variety of snacks for purchase). The room lighting was adequate. The heating-air conditioning unit worked well. The free WiFi worked flawlessly. The room also included an iron and ironing board, and a small safe suitable for a netbook computer. The television was of the older, tube variety but offered a choice from about six dozen channels.
The bathroom (no bidet) was clean and had a full bath. The wash basin and mirror were in an alcove just outside the bathroom. The water system worked well. Solid soap, shampoo and skin lotion were provided.
A buffet breakfast was available from 6 a.m. till 9 a.m. Monday to Friday and 7 a.m. till 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The choice included a standard range of items for this class of motel: dry cereals and packets of oatmeal; prepared mini-omelets and sausage patties; orange and apple drinks; milk, tea, coffee and chocolate; flavored cream, sugar and artificial sweetener; waffles and syrup; yogurts, muffins, bagels, pastries, bread-toast and hard-boiled eggs; cream cheese, jams, peanut butter, butter, margarine; apples, oranges and bananas.
The motel is very convenient to exit 19 of I-71. Also, you can walk in 2-10 minutes to a variety of restaurants (American and Asian) ranging from fast-food takeaway to served eat-in. In 5-10 minutes you can walk to two shopping centers, one across the street from and the other behind the motel. They include HH Gregg, Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Target, Big Lots, Kohl, JC Penney, and others. These features make the location of the motel especially desirable if you do not have access to a car, for example, if your companion has to attend a meeting elsewhere and you have to remain behind and entertain yourself.
