“Great location, No restaurants”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

A very nice Hampton Inn with an excellent location at the entrance to the Vicksburg battlefield. My king suite room was very nice and the popcorn that I could fix for a late evening snack was a nice touch. The hotel also has free wireless with no password requirement which is always a plus. The only drawback was that at the exit where the hotel was located there were no restaurants nearby. Normally, when there are multiple hotels clustered at an exit there are food choices. This was the only drawback I noted.

Scalarnet,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay with us. We appreciate our guests and there comments. We enjoyed serving you while you were here and we would like to invite you to return and stay with us again in the future. There are actually quite a few restaurants located near the hotel, and our Associates would be glad to make recommendations for you during your next stay. In addition to the fast food and chain restaurants nearby, there are several local restaurants that serve a variety of food, including traditional Southern classics.

“Really comfortable and convenient hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We had a very pleasant stay at the Hampton Inn Vicksburg. The rooms are extremely spacious and comfortable. Clearly, as a chain hotel, it lacks a little in terms of character and charm, but other than this, it was hard to fault. It is located across the road from the National Military Park and a very short drive from the historic district of Vicksburg. On approach, we were concerned that it might be noisy as it is not a long way from the I20, but we had no problems at all with noise. A decent breakfast was included in the rate, and we considered the rate very good value for money. Parking was free. Staff were friendly and helpful. All in all, I think it would be difficult to find a better located, better value hotel in Vicksburg.

Room Tip: We had rooms facing Clay street and these were quiet and had ample natural light and a view across t...

MrFugazy,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay with us. We always enjoy hearing from our guests. It was great having you stay with us, and we would love to have you stay with us again. There is so much to do in Vicksburg related to history, and a lot of it has nothing to do with the Civil War. For instance you can visit the Beidenharn Museum where Coca-Cola was first bottled. During your next stay ask an Associate about all the great history spots in Vicksburg.

“Christmas Holiday Thank you”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Visiting the grandchildren for Christmas; reservations were made both coming and going (Dec and Jan); easy location to access; very convenient to dining establishments;exceptional courtesy from hotel staff; and a very nice room - quiet, clean. Love the "Transporter Racks" for moving luggage; and the cooks...a relaxed breakfast before resuming travels prepared by some very nice people. I am a repeat visitor to the Hampton Inn's...and they are nice.

Room Tip: Make your reservations and stop early to relax from your travels.

Glad you enjoyed your stay with us while traveling to see your Grandchildren. We enjoyed having you here and we would like the opportunity to serve you again in the future. Vicksburg is more than a great stopover on your trip, plan to spend a few days to take in the great atmosphere here. Vicksburg is full of local restaurants, great shopping and historic structures that have been converted into museums and other historical attractions. Our Associates will be glad to recommend some of their favorites, and provide you with directions.

“opposite the battlefield”

Ideal positon to visit the battlefield, General Grant would have been pleased! It's a very nice hotel and friendly staff, it's easy to access the main town of vicksurg and it is set slightly off the road so it's not noisy. It was so clean and new and our room was huge with a small kitchenette and large bathroom as well. Even though it was at the front we didn't hear any road noise. The small shop next to reception is very handy to buy small microwave meals and snacks and breakfast is good too.The Hampton Inns are such a good chain to stay in when in the USA

cumbo,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay with us. We enjoyed having you here and we look forward to serving you again in the future. We are glad that you enjoyed breakfast during your stay. In case you are not aware of it, we also serve light snacks and beverages on most nights in our dining area during our Manager's Reception. If you are a fan of history, keep in mind that there is more to Vicksburg than the battlefield park. Vicksburg is full of museums and historic structures you can tour. Ask an Associate for more details and recommendations.

“Best Hampton Ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We stayed here on our recent Civil War trip through Mississippi, and couldn't have been happier with it. It is honestly the nicest Hampton Inn we've ever stayed in (and we've stayed in quite a few!). The lobby is very pretty and spacious. Our room, a studio suite on the 5th floor, was very large and comfortable for the whole family (not to mention decorated beautifully). The hotel is so nice, I assumed it was brand new...I couldn't believe it when a staff member told me it was 6 years old (you'd never know it from the way they keep it up so well). The location is also fantastic...directly across the street from the military park and next door to the visitor's center. We had a great view of the big Memorial Arch at the park from our windows! It is also a short drive to downtown, where there are many other wonderful historical sights to see. Finally, I have to do a shout-out to B.C., housekeeper on the 5th floor...she was so sweet and took great care of us! Yes, this Hampton property does cost a little more than we're used to paying...but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for...and this hotel was definitely worth it.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of the hotel face the Vicksburg National Military Park, a very nice view.
