“I Thought This Place Was Great!!!!”

Personally I thought the Stained Glass Manor was a wonderful place to stay, my fiance and I had the best time we loved the old feel to the home and we both fell in love with Mrs. Shirley she made sure our stay was excellent!!!

The home is older if you want something more modern then the Casino would be best for you, the reason why most of us go to this bed and breakfast is for the history you cannot expect a home to be modern that is supposed to be historic that isn't how it works. If you like the modern things stay @ a casino if you want to learn something about history this is the place for you, this house is haunted so beware but these are good ghosts it seems never bothered us and that was another reason why we choose this bed and breakfast.

Thanks Mrs. Shirley for such a wonderful time and awesome breakfast we will for sure be back!!! =)

“Don't stay the night”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2007

Don't stay overnight unless you like seeing ghosts-which are only seen by children. The brochure is decieving. The lawn full of weeds, beds that sank in the middle, cracked flooring in the bathroom, outdoor furniture dirty and old-- give the wicker a paint job at least. Our family of 5 which included three young children were uncomfortable staying in a place with "ghosts"- which is never mentioned in the brochure. The proprietors were quick to say we have been on TV-- great for ghost hunters-- not for young families. We did not even stay overnight. Beware of the no refund policy- even though we showed up and we not pleased at all They only offered us a gift certificate-- how likely is it that we would ever come back. Pick another B&B in Vicksburg!!

We certainly do regret Angelfire101,tx's discomfort with our ghosts.
They are as nice, kind, gentle, and as comfortable to be with as ghosts can possibly be. The specific ghost in question has only been seen by children below the age of 8. No adults have ever seen him. He plays gently with the children who have met him and has never frightened anyone himself!
I fear that the gentle lady who wrote the review frightened her own children - not our ghosts. Casper is not as nice as ours.
This is the fifth variation I have heard describing her alleged experience with us - and the terminological inexactitude has grown with each successive telling.
We regret any unpleasantness we might possibly have caused and appropriate corrective action will be taken when and where it is called for.

“Avoid Stained Glass Manor”

I agree with prior review written by Traveler Climber. This establishment is run-down and is in need of repair from lack of maintenance, especially the bathrooms, which were the worst I have ever seen.

We regret that palmtravel had a less than perfect stay with us.

This lovely young lady was given a room where the bath had just been completely repaired, not
the room requested (where the bath repairs were still incomplete).

The city and Katrina gave us many repair and maintenance tasks to do.
Most are complete.

Our establishment is very old, but it is not run-down.
Many of our bath fixtures are old - but they are original and authentic.

“Don't stay at Stained Glass Manor”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2006

We stayed at the Stained Glass Manor for 1 night in Sept 2006 and it was 1 night too long. I made the reservation by phone basing my decision on the website description. The first room the owner intended us to stay in had the linoleum torn apart and coming up in the bathroom. The room we ultimately stayed in had a tub so stained that we did not want to use it. In general, the house was not in keeping with the period. For example, dark out of date carpet covering the majestic stairway and tacky "mardi gras" decorations throughout. Overall the house was extremely cluttered and unkept. There was a bucket to catch water centered in the entry way though it did not look like it had rained recently (as if that would have been an excuse). We were asked to used a side door to come and go. This entry was bombarded with sickly pets we had to dodge. In addition it was covered with dirt and pet hair. The owner compained incessantly about hurricane Katrina and blamed the house's disrepair on it and the State of Mississippi for not providing adequate compensation. We were not able to confirm that structures in Vicksburg had been seriously damaged by Katrina. The only positive thing I can say is that the stained glass windows in some of the rooms are beautiful.

The experience as a whole deterred us from touring any other homes in Vicksburg. It truly tainted our visit to Vicksburg.

We regret that "Travel_Climber" (of San Carlos, not San Francisco) was/is unhappy.
Before her arrival with her mother(?) and daughter(?), she expressed her concerns by telephone
of the pricing - and we offered to find her accommodation elsewhere - which she declined.
Upon her arrival, we repeated the offer several times - and was declined each time.
If she was likely to be unhappy with us, we offered to find her another place to stay.
We have no linoleum floors nor dark, out of date carpet nor sickly pets nor dirty porches.
We do have a few remembrances of our many wonderful Mardi Gras celebrations in New
Orleans.
We do have the original cast iron claw foot bathtubs and original pedestal sinks in three of our
six bathrooms. Authenticity overruled modern appearance in this case. They are kept germ-free at
all times.
Shortly before her arrival, the City of Vicksburg lost all water supply with a ruptured main.
When water was restored, the entrapped air caused water hammer throughout the city causing
many leaks in previously secure lines. We had no less than nine - one of which was still under
repair for over a month - with an attractive receptacle to catch the leak.
As to Katrina - the damage to our home was enough to require a replacement of our entire roof -
and we are still making other repairs.
Katrina’s damage reached from the Gulf Coast all the way to Kentucky and southern Ohio - and
the poor response of FEMA and the insurance companies is a matter of public record and
discussion.
Many who had no Katrina loss find it an unpleasant topic.
Finally, “Travel_Climber” offered to “Ruin you” after we had saved her $30.00.

We regret her unhappiness - but are not surprised.
