“Memorable, charming, delightful visit in period ambiance hosted by the resident owners!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2011

A 3-night stay was absolutely lovely! It was easy to feel comfortably 'at home' throughout the public areas & the rooms are nicely appointed & very cozy. Although the New Year's weather was gloomy, so not the most advantageous overall, without hesitation, I would happily return to Duff Green again & enjoy the mansion surroundings during a more seasonally appealing time of year.

“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2010

The Duff Green Mansion is everything we hope to find in a Bed & Breakfast... and more! Chad was very helpful when we arrived and Mr. Sharp, the owner, was a wonderful host. We felt so welcome and relaxed throughout our stay of two nights. We felt the history of the house as we stayed there. It seemed as if it should be considered hallowed ground as it was a place that wounded soldiers from both sides found safety and medical care within the rooms of the mansion. The breakfasts were wonderful and had that "Southern" feel. We definitely recommend The Duff Green Mansion to our friends.

“Beautifull and Elegant with a very comfortable atmosphere.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2010

A step back in time, one of beauty and graciousness. Everyone was extremely nice and helpfull, but not hovering constantly bothering you. Mr Sharp was extremely well versed with the history, and able to answer any questions you might have. Also, Chad was available when needed. Especially enjoyed Buddy, Missy, and the older dog since we are animal lovers ourselves and have 2 dogs and 1 cat, which we consider our babies. We always say happy pets mean a happy home and this is certainly a happy home. The breakfast each morning was superb, and Mr Sharp is a wonderfull chef. We definetely will return for a future visit to The Duff Green, and to enjoy the history of Vicksburg. Also, try eating at Rusty's, the seafood and sides are awesome, and another good place is the Duff Tavern downtown. We didn't have any late night visiters, the spectral kind, but we would have welcomed them since they were here many decades before. We stayed in the Dixie Room which was very charming and comfortable. Mr Sharp and staff definetely made you feel like you were part of the family or the lord or lady of the manor. Would certqainly recommend this B&B.

“Wonderful Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2010

A laid back friendly atmosphere was just what we wanted and Duff Green delivered. The host (Mr. Sharp) was very gracious and accomodating but not intrusive. The breakfast was A+! The family pets also added a very homey feel to the experience which we very much enjoyed. The rooms were very comfortable and we really enjoyed the fireplaces. If you want history, ghosts, and down home southern hospitality then Duff Green is definitely a must stay! We will be back!

“Loved the Duff Green”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2009

We arrived for the first of a 2 night stay at Duff Green mid afternoon; my first impression was "great looking building, not so great neighborhhod." Early in our stay, the inn keeper seemed to seek us out and introduced himself. He was a warm and gracious host. The "cocktail hour" was held in the ballroom, and just about every type of liquor was available for self service...whiskey, gin, vodka, scotch, beer, wine, mixers, and soda. This was a very nicely stocked bar. It was clear the inn keeper took great pride in his inn; the decor was absolutely beautiful, top to bottom. A short video was presented in which the history and lore of the mansion was provided. Fascinating place. Our room was furnished very nicely, although the carpeting and bathroom fixtures were showing wear. The carpet and bathroom were not in period decor! The bed was comfortable and spacious. We rested well on each of the nights we stayed at Duff Green. The breakfast was outstanding each morning. The inn keeper pitched in and helped cook and serve the first morning, and did it all the second morning.

There have been prior reviews which spoke negatively about the dogs; personally, I don't mind dogs. I can see, however, where someone who doesn't like dogs could be turned off by their presence.

All in all, this was a very nice place and we would eagerly stay there again.
