We arrived for the first of a 2 night stay at Duff Green mid afternoon; my first impression was "great looking building, not so great neighborhhod." Early in our stay, the inn keeper seemed to seek us out and introduced himself. He was a warm and gracious host. The "cocktail hour" was held in the ballroom, and just about every type of liquor was available for self service...whiskey, gin, vodka, scotch, beer, wine, mixers, and soda. This was a very nicely stocked bar. It was clear the inn keeper took great pride in his inn; the decor was absolutely beautiful, top to bottom. A short video was presented in which the history and lore of the mansion was provided. Fascinating place. Our room was furnished very nicely, although the carpeting and bathroom fixtures were showing wear. The carpet and bathroom were not in period decor! The bed was comfortable and spacious. We rested well on each of the nights we stayed at Duff Green. The breakfast was outstanding each morning. The inn keeper pitched in and helped cook and serve the first morning, and did it all the second morning.
There have been prior reviews which spoke negatively about the dogs; personally, I don't mind dogs. I can see, however, where someone who doesn't like dogs could be turned off by their presence.
All in all, this was a very nice place and we would eagerly stay there again.
