I was in Honolulu for business and a great rate was offered. I've stayed at this property several times because of its value. I am happy to say that the hotel has finally undergone renovation and the rooms have been significantly updated. If you are a visitor on vacation, I would recommend you stay elsewhere if you want to be close to the beach and the attractions of Kalakaua Avenue. For business, it's great because you can get in and out of Waikiki easily. The staff, particularly the valet parking folks, are efficient and friendly. So, too, the front desk. I was disappointed in two things. First, the hotel charged for Internet use in the Business Center. That didn't seem right, particularly for a Gold member. I also was disappointed that I couldn't take a few things to go from the breakfast buffet before heading off to a meeting. I never had a problem before taking fruit and yogurt, for example, if I don't have the time to sit down and dine. I've been able to do this at other Hilton properties, from Hilton resorts to Hampton Inns), but I was told it couldn't be done at the Alana. Oh, well. I guess every location has its own policies. Thanks to everyone else who made this stay at the Doubletree Alana so comfortable. Great job on the room remodel, too!
