I stayed at the Princess Kaiulani for three nights. The hotel has a great location, right in the middle of Waikiki beach attractions. The room was large, had a great view. The fixtures in the bathroom were a little old, but not unexpected given the price I paid. The water from the sink faucet had a slightly funny smell, so I brushed my teeth using the free bottled water that came with my room
The problem came when I wanted to sleep. EVERY night, there is loud live music coming from a bar adjacent to the hotel. The music went on until after 1am EVERY night I was there. Then, each morning there were numerous car alarms going off in the parking desk also adjacent to the hotel. I was on the 15th floor, and db Meter app on my iPhone registered the sound levels at about 80db during the live music and 75db during the car alarm symphony. I am usually a deep sleeper, but these were enough to wake me up (and keep me awake).
There are several towers, and I got the Hawaiian resident (Kamaaina) rate. So, they probably put me in the worst tower. But keep this in mind if you are a light sleeper.
