“Very nice stay”

We stayed at the Ilima Hotel for 10 days. The room was unusually spacious with a large balcony and a kitchen, there is a proper bathtub in the bathroom. The beds were fantastic. The staff was very pleasant and extremely obliging to our wishes. There are even smokers' rooms in this hotel, unsual for the US and very convenient for us, as we didn't have to run outside for each cigarette. All in all, it was one of the most wonderful holidays of our life, we loved our stay in the Ilima Hotel and would always return to it again!

“vacations in paradaise ruined”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

we travel quite extensively over the years and are quite accustomed to the fact that things can go wrong. With our stay at hotel Ilima we hit another bottom.First ,we ,ve got room just above garbage bin.Every morning, 6am, garbage truck gave us a nasty wake up.Noise from the streets prevented us from opening balcony or the windows. We asked for different room and was refused without trace of care, explanation, hotel full ,beside we,ve booked with Expedia and had to stay in ,,Expedia,,pool room .Warning Expedia rooms =crappy rooms. On 3rd day someone from hotel staff stole $380 from back pocket of my pants i left hanging in the washroom.Reported theft to manager, instead I feel sorry for you, he says -it never happened before-well,I,ve never stole money from myself either.I was well aware that theft is a national sport in Hawaii.they post warning signs everywhere, but left my guard down in the hotel.Lesson learned, hard way. From now on hotel Ilima is on our list places to avoid

Room Tip: stay away from lover floors and main street ,noise wont let you relax

Aloha,

We are very sorry that these guests did not have an enjoyable experience at the 'Ilima Hotel. Unfortunately, we cannot control the trash pick up schedule nor street noise in Waikiki. None of our rooms is located directly over a trash bin but there can be noise from other buildings nearby. The hotel was indeed full during their stay so we could not offer alternative accommodations. There are no "Expedia" rooms. Guests are placed in the category of room for which they have paid. In regards to the alleged theft, the guests did not report it to management for two days and then refused to file a police report. There seemed to be doubt whether the money was actually taken from the room. The housekeeper that serviced the room has been with us for well over fifteen years and has been honored as host of the quarter. It is unlikely that she would have jeopardized her reputation and employment with such an overt gesture. We regret that their Hawai’i trip did not live up to their expectations.

“A good family friendly hotel”

This was our first trip to Hawaii. We weren't sure how our experience would be to stay in a hotel, which isnt an international franchise. But after reviewing the reviews on tripadvisor, we took the leap of faith! Thanks to all honest reviewers, we had an amazing time.

The hotel is little old but well maintained. The staff is super friendly and willing to help. Lots of information available on concierge. Minutes away from Waikiki beach. Beach towels and mats are available for guests. They also offer various activities on site. such as make your own necklace.

Room service is great. Rooms are mini-suite style. Really cozy rooms! I went with my wife and 2 kids. Waikiki, Oahu isnt a place where you want to stay in your resort all day. So you dont need accommodation like Caribbean resorts.

You rent a car and you go to various places in the island. The best part of this hotel is FREE PARKING!!! Parking is really expensive in Oahu. So this is a plus. Its walking seconds distance to everything. Its actually nicer place to get out of Waikiki when you want to drive out. Other hotels beside it (i.e. Royal Hawaii, Westin) has trouble getting in and out for parking because its so busy around it. But this hotel is on calm street. The whole hotel is calm. Free laundry on site. Well maintained and bed-bugs free.

Over-all I would highly recommend it. If want to spend money please go ahead and take other hotels in Waikiki but this is way better than any other hotels that I've seen.

Room Tip: Value for money. Free Parking! Very Clean and friendly staff. Keep Looking into hotel website for gr...

“Great value, lovely staff, great location”

We stayed here for 5 days in December 2011 and would highly recommend if anyone is looking for a clean place to stay with parking and within walking distance of Waikiki Beach. The staff here are lovely and there is free wifi in the lobby. It was great value and our room had a kitchen and was very spacious. The only down side was that one of the mattresses in our room was really uncomfortable to sleep on but the other one was fine. Also the hotel has an airport shuttle which is US15 each way per person.
