we travel quite extensively over the years and are quite accustomed to the fact that things can go wrong. With our stay at hotel Ilima we hit another bottom.First ,we ,ve got room just above garbage bin.Every morning, 6am, garbage truck gave us a nasty wake up.Noise from the streets prevented us from opening balcony or the windows. We asked for different room and was refused without trace of care, explanation, hotel full ,beside we,ve booked with Expedia and had to stay in ,,Expedia,,pool room .Warning Expedia rooms =crappy rooms. On 3rd day someone from hotel staff stole $380 from back pocket of my pants i left hanging in the washroom.Reported theft to manager, instead I feel sorry for you, he says -it never happened before-well,I,ve never stole money from myself either.I was well aware that theft is a national sport in Hawaii.they post warning signs everywhere, but left my guard down in the hotel.Lesson learned, hard way. From now on hotel Ilima is on our list places to avoid
Room Tip: stay away from lover floors and main street ,noise wont let you relax

Aloha,
We are very sorry that these guests did not have an enjoyable experience at the 'Ilima Hotel. Unfortunately, we cannot control the trash pick up schedule nor street noise in Waikiki. None of our rooms is located directly over a trash bin but there can be noise from other buildings nearby. The hotel was indeed full during their stay so we could not offer alternative accommodations. There are no "Expedia" rooms. Guests are placed in the category of room for which they have paid. In regards to the alleged theft, the guests did not report it to management for two days and then refused to file a police report. There seemed to be doubt whether the money was actually taken from the room. The housekeeper that serviced the room has been with us for well over fifteen years and has been honored as host of the quarter. It is unlikely that she would have jeopardized her reputation and employment with such an overt gesture. We regret that their Hawai’i trip did not live up to their expectations.
