We had an ocean view, 1 bedroom suite in one of the unrenovated rooms for 10 nights and had booked through Waikiki Condo Rentals. Although the view was fantastic (21st floor) the room was dirty, smelly and somewhat in disrepair. It appears that the privately owned units have not been fully renovated, while those owned by Aston have been. The room next door to us had been renovated and was very nice. The front desk wanted nothing to do with us because we were staying in a private suite. We saved the $10/night resort fee but did miss out on coffee, newspaper, daily maid service and a place to store our luggage between checkout time and an evening flight. On the plus side, the private unit did give us unlimited local calls and internet. The location was great, right on the bus route, close to the beach, full kitchen so that we could make our own breakfast and watch the sailors and surfers in the morning. We did not use the lanai as much as expected as it was very windy. If you want a condo with full kitchen, it works well for 2-3 people but insist on a fully renovated room.
