“Great location and adjacent to shopping center!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

The Ala Moana Hotel is so convenient! It has been renovated and I found it to be quiet and clean. I was happy to have a coffee maker and a fridge in my room. My room was clean and quiet. I stayed in the Kona tower - elevators are toasted the back of the hotel.

There are a few restaurants in the hotel but no problem! There is a walkway that is connected the largest shopping center with everything that might need. Longs Drugs for your toiletries, snacks for your room, lots of great eateries- you have to try the local cuisine! If you are lucky you might even catch some free entertainment at the center stage.

I personally grab snacks for my room and a nice take out meal from the many eateries, food court or Shirokiya (Japanese dept. Store with fresh food- it's next to Macy's on the way back to the hotel) drop off my snacks in the room, then walk across the street to the Ala Moana beach park and find a nice place to sit and eat my meal and watch the sun set. Can't get any better..!

“Good location between Waikiki and downtown Honolulu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Hotel has 2 towers-Waikiki and Kona tower. Waikiki Tower rooms seem to be a little larger although rooms are not big. Stay on a higher floor or it could be noisy. Excellent location for shopping at Ala Moana Center (just walk out the 2nd floor exit to center). Also across from Ala Moana Beach Park which is nice for a run or picnic. Hotel is about 4 short blocks from the hub-bub of Waikiki and about 8 blocks to downtown Honolulu, fairly EZ access to free ways too. Valet Parking at $25 is high and not included in the room. No great restaurant in hotel but for business I like the central location verses being in Waikiki where you have to contend with traffic. Oh, one other thing-you get free internet service with your room, but it doesn't work for an IPAD - had to do that in the lobby.

Room Tip: Higher floor to avoid street noise

“HNL - Business Trip Rm#1411”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I stayed there back in January. the hotel / condos / time share is nice. while it's not close to the beach and it will be a walk to get there... the Mall next to it is connected to the hotel which is nice.

Having the Mall next to the hotel is great if your a business traveler because you have plenty of options on where to dine at.

The Staff was very friendly and the room where average and acquitted. see the attached pics for view from my room.

The only bad thing that I can say about my stay there was the Hotel charges you $20 a night to park your vehicle in their downstairs parking lot... I feel if they are charging you for the room then it should also include free parking.

The other bad thing is they charge you .75 cents for local calls...c'mon now...

“Nice Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Stayed in the Waikiki tower for 6 nights on the 24 th floor with a view of Harbour and ocean from nice lanai The room was decent size with a king size bed, microwave, coffee maker and dorm fridge. Bathroom was small. Easy access to shopping and dining at the shopping center. Pool was fine but a 10 minute walk to beach park. Catch public bus #8 into all parts of Waikiki. Probably not the best choice for first time visitors because
of location away from Waikiki beach.

“Noise and tiny bed with decent view”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We went to Oahu for the week-end and spent 2 nights at the hotel. The rooms are tiny and over furnished and the bed is so so small (full size only).
The positive side are the amenities : coffee maker, microwave, safety box and small fridge inside the room. Could not sleep because of the noise from people walking in the middle of the night. The front desk not so welcoming. Did not greet us and when I called the front desk, the lady was laughing and talking to a friend while answering the phone.
Expensive ($120 per night) for what you get.
