First trip to Hawaii...definitely not our last. We won the trip so we did not have any control over where we were staying so that made us a little nervous. We were very happy with the Outrigger Waikiki.
The location of the hotel couldn't be better. We did not have to go too far for anything we wanted to do. Even if we wanted to explore out further, there are many stops for The Bus near the hotel.
Our room was an ocean view on the Diamond Head side of the hotel but it was back too far to see Diamond Head. We still had a great ocean view. Our room was large and had a more than enough storage. The bed was very comfortable. The only complaint I have about the room is that the lighting in the vanity area was not bright enough.
We used the following services:
Bellman: Very prompt and courteous. We had our luggage within 5 minutes of check in. They picked up and stored our bags upon check out until we left the hotel for the airport. We had to access the bags a few times and they were so nice about it.
Housekeeping: Kept the rooms very clean and responded promptly when we had an extra request. Very nice ladies.
Valet: We rented a car for two days so we only parked the car for one night. When we needed the car they got it to us in minutes. They were so friendly.
Pool attendant: Very friendly and remembered us from the first day.
Concierge: Advised me how to handle our transport to the airport when our flight home was changed by the airline.
Front desk: Answered all of our many, many questions and seemed more than happy to help.
We also used the self-laundry. It was outside which was new for us. It was right next to the outdoor smoking area so I was worried our clothes would smell like smoke but there were not too many people using the smoking area so it was fine. The machines could use some updating. They are kind of small.
We enjoyed Dukes, Hula Grill, and Society of Seven but I will do separate reviews for those.
The wait for the elevators was a bit of pain at times. They do have a notice posted that they are working on them so we knew why we had to wait so long at times but it was still a little bit of a pain.
I understand that they are doing a major renovation on this hotel and I look forward to going back in the future and seeing all the changes.
