Quite simply, old beds, musty rooms. We complained and they upgraded us to just a bigger version of the same problems. Would need a serious renovation to be good again.

The staff were totally not interesetd and the bar the people behind the bar bordering on being racist...
On my first night i went to the bar at dukes and asked for 2 drinks the, the gut asked me to approach the corner of the bar and order from there, no woories i said and walked to athe area as intsructed...
For over 5 minutes i stood there, as the barman held a conversation with some amercian tourists, the waitress then came to collect some drinks and io asked if i could order from her, to whcih she replied, i have to ask the barman, she added, if he ever stops talikng...
A few minutes later, she returned and she was embarrassed that i was still there ( she knew it was highly inappropiate )
Anyway, the barman who had caught my eye on a couple of occasison continued to ignore me and my Chinese wife, only when i turned around to my wife and said forget it, lets go elsewhere he beckoned me, i gave him short shrift as you would expect...
A day later the tour company failed to pick me up for a Paradise cove experience and the Hotel Concierge did not care one jot, said they were there and there would be an extra charge to reschedule!!.. So i called the tour people myself and rearrange with no extra charge and got an apology and admittance it was there error...
The outrigger is for americans, next time i will chose a more international hotel

We loved staying at the Outrigger - we'll stay there again without question.

The high points:
- awesome location. In walking distance of tons of shopping, food.
- beach is beautiful. Great water sport activities here too.
- great spots to eat within the hotel. Hula Grill was our favorite but Dukes was fun too. Hula Grill had awesome breakfasts.
- even the "city view" room has a beach view.
- always clean, really friendly staff
- activities desk is really helpul. They went above & beyond helping us book activities.

Low points (if you can call them that):
- bathrooms are fairly small, but nice.
- not enough electrical outlets in the rooms
- can be noisy at night - because of the city, not the hotel.

Overall great hotel. I'd reccommend this hotel to anyone - it has a little something for everyone.

Stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach on 18th Jan for 11 nights. This hotel is in the best possible location in Waikiki and if you like to be in the middle of it all, then this is the hotel for you. Shopping, beach and restaurants are right outside your hotel.

The hotel itself has great restaurants, friendly staff and the rooms are very spacious. We think the room next to ours was empty for most of the trip so we did not have any noise issues, however you could easily hear people talking in the hallway, so if you had noisy neighbours this would be an issue.

The one and major downfall of the hotel is the pool area, the pool itself is fine and nice and deep, however, the lounge area around the pool is terrible. It is too small and there were not enough lounges for everybody. The pool lounges were very close together and you had to get down there early to secure one.

I understand the hotel is updating this area, so hopefully this will not be a problem for much longer.

I would highly recommend this hotel once the pool area is fixed up and would stay there again.
