“Cozy, convenient and charming”

After a day riding the Verde Canyon Railroad we relaxed here with a fireplace in our room (Lilli's room) Staying in scenic Clarkdale was the perfect end to a day in the canyon. The night sky was blanketed with stars which was magical and Patricia was the perfect hostess at her B & B. We had a terrific meal at nearby Nic's Italian restaurant. An extraordinary 24 hours in paradise!

“A little piece of heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2010

This place is truely a hidden gem from the secluded location to the warm and fuzzy feeling you get from the generous hospitality. Patricia welcomed us as tho we were family and truely made us feel at home. We stayed in the LOFT which offered us a georgous view from the picture window and also our private deck. The location could not have been better as we were only minutes away from the Verde Train, Tuzigoot Ruins, Montezumas Castle, Palatki Ruins and the Wildlife Park all of which we visited during our stay. Each morning we would go downstairs were we found the table set with a beautiful, yummy and filling breakfast before we headed out for our daily excursions. Each evening we were pleasantly lulled to sleep by the soothing sounds of the countryside and the cool night air. The sunsets are beautiful and the view of the valley and the red rocks off in the distance are incredible. What a wonderful place to rejuvinate your spirit.

“Very nice stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

Suprisingly, unless you want to stay in a low-end chain motel or drive to Sedona, Prescott or Jerome, there are very limited options if you are looking for a nice place to stay when traveling to Clarkdale or Cottonwood (for Verde Railroad, wine tastings, antiques or kayaking wine tours). The Flying Eagle had great reviews and we weren't disappointed. We recommend the Loft room due to it's size and views from the upstairs deck. Our room was very comfortable and the A/C was a great relief from the heat. We opted for the extra charge and received apple cinammon french toast, sausage and yogurt with fresh fruit. Enjoyed our stay.

“Relaxing and VERY Hospitable!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2008

My wife and I spent our anniversary weekend here. The setting was serene and comfortable and the hospitality by the owner (Pat) was exceptional!

The breakfast was amazing and unique! The "family" atmosphere she creates makes you fee like you're a family guest...except when you settle your bill with her after breakfast.

The Guest House room that we stayed in was uniquely decorated. It's not what I would have done to the place, but then again, it's not my place. Having the kitchenette was nice, but probably not needed.

My only concerns was the water pressure in the shower...it worked, but I like more powerful showers. The bed could have been a bit more comfortable, but then I'm spoiled at home. Nothing to worry about, but thought it was still worthy of mentioning.

All in all, I would stay here again! The hospitality and accommodating service overshadowed everything else!

  • Liked — Hospitaltiy and breakfast
  • Disliked — Nothing that would prevent me from staying in the future.

“A home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2006

We loved this place so much we don't even know where to begin. Our stay at the Flying Eagle was for three days in early October. In hindsight we wish we had booked a longer stay. Our hosts, Patricia and Casey Cavanaugh, are a warm and delightful couple who made us feel like family. Every morning they prepared a delicious full breakfast that kept us full way past lunchtime. The inn is situated on a private dirt road so you are far from any traffic noise. Behind the inn is Mingus Mountain and lots of open land for wildlife watching. We stayed in the Loft Room which has it's own entrance and deck. The room is beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and very clean and fresh smelling. One evening, after a long day in Sedona, we sat on the deck and just watched the stars and listened to the night sounds around us. Another night we soaked in the outdoor jacuzzi under the stars. Patricia and Casey were very helpful with plenty of on-hand tourist info of the area. And the inn is perfectly located so that driving distances to places like Sedona, Jerome and Prescott are no more than 15 - 30 minutes. Frankly, I don't know why anyone would want to stay in Sedona...there's lots of traffic, people, and noise. We were glad we chose the Flying Eagle...peace and tranquility. And isn't that what a vacation is all about?
