“Francis Malbone...it's what B and B's wish they could Be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

After several trips to Hilltop, GREAT, my wife and I decided to try Francis Malbone.
The key here is everything is done for you by skilled professionals every step of the way. The courtyard is just right to have a smoke and relax...after I went out I realized I had just locked myself out. By the time I went in "someone" had unlocked the door? Great!
I love a fire...a real fire. It was great to keep the fire going while watching the Super Bowl. Somehow just when it looked like my wood would run out...someone came into the Parlor with a new stack.
The beds actually are as good as they look. The linens and towels are exactly how I like em...great bathrobe too.
Food is for another review since every morning was a delight in every way...tea time...don't even think of early dinner if you get started.

Everyone is what you were hoping for...no kidding

Room Tip: There are literally no bad rooms

“Elegant Inn in the Heart of Newport”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stayed there last weekend and enjoyed a last-minute getaway. Newport, especially Thames St, is very crowded in the summer months, so this was a treat to be there in the off-season. Even so, the Inn was almost full! It is a beautiful historic house. Our room was in a lovely addition at the back with a semi-private courtyard. It had a high ceiling, wide cove molding, whirlpool, gas fireplace. Delicious breakfast was served in the morning, and we also enjoyed the tea with soup and pastries when we arrived in the afternoon. Staff was very friendly and helpful, parking is plentiful and convenient (a plus in Newport). There is an enclosed courtyard for all guests to enjoy breakfast and tea in the warmer months.

“Newport's finest inn.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We have been staying at the Francis Malbone House for years, and have never been disappointed. The staff are professional yet warm and friendly. We are always made to feel welcome and the service is top notch. Each of the rooms are nicely decorated and most have working fireplaces. There is an afternoon tea which includes many snacks, cakes and other treats. In addition, the breakfast options are quite good. They usually offer two choices, such as eggs florentine or banana nut pancakes. Breakfast can get busy and you may find yourself having to share a table with another couple. This is a romantic inn not suitable for families with young children. If it is your fist time visiting you should note that the exterior doors will be locked. You have to ring the doorbell to gain access to the building until you get your keys. The location is ideal. For a taste of where the locals go you should visit some of the restaurants on upper Thames Street (take a left when exiting the inn) or go over to Broadway. The proprietor,Will, makes excellent suggestions for activities and dining.

“An amazing place to get away!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We've been to the Malbone House 4 times and still can't wait to get back. Every room we've stayed in has been stunning and elegant while extremely comfortable. Our visits have always been in winter and we enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and love sitting in front of the cozy fire with a glass of wine. The afternoon tea and pastries are fantastic and the breakfasts are delicious!

Room Tip: The Couting House was our favorite!
