“Wish I could live here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

My boyfriend and I recently spent a weekend at the Hilltop Inn, and we could not have asked for more beautiful accommodations, or more gracious hosts! We were warmly welcomed by Janet the moment we walked in the door, and she led us to the beautiful Kay Room, which had wonderful, thoughtful touches: from the gorgeous fireplace with a timer, to the bath salts for soaking in the huge tub, to the private second floor deck- everything was decorated with exquisite taste, and the room was immaculately clean. My boyfriend and I kept exclaiming that we wished the Kay Room (and bathroom) were part of our house because we loved it so much.

We enjoyed some cookies and tea in the afternoon, while Janet gave us suggestions on Newport outings on a map. She was also helpful to suggest a restaurant for us for dinner (which we loved!), and even called ahead for us to make a reservation.

Breakfast the next morning was also delicious- we sat in the sunny breakfast room and had an assortment of baked goods and fruit while our hot entrees (a choice of savory or sweet) was made in the kitchen.

I would not hesitate to recommend the Hilltop Inn. Come here for a luxurious, relaxing weekend!

Room Tip: I loved the Kay room, which had a private balcony, a fireplace, and a huge bathroom!

“Awesome weekend at the Hilltop!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

WOW! We rented out the whole place for a family event, and you never really know how these things are going to turn out, but this worked out so so well. The staff were incredibly nice, the rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, the food (afternoon tea, breakfast) was awesome. There were two small glitches- one, an issue with the fireplace in the main room not working. This was kind of awkward because I had specifically chosen this place (and rented all five rooms) based on the fact that it had a working (wood-burning) fireplace where we could all congregate, and it was even in my correspondence with the inn when I booked, but when we showed up it was not working. But I can understand if it's a temporary safety issue, and the staff were so nice and everything else was so good that it totally made up for it. (And I can only assume that since it's a first-class place that they've fixed whatever the issue was.) Two- the air handling kind of freaked everyone out at night. It comes on like a jet engine, and the controls are baffling. We managed to get it under control though. If we come back to Newport I'd definitely stay at the Hilltop again!

“Perfect romantic getaway.”

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hilltop Inn and absolutely loved it! The innkeeper and staff members were extremely pleasant. The Inn is small and very quaint. Breakfast and afternoon tea are a must, both were extremely delicious.

“Perfect Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We decided to spend the weekend in Newport at the last minute and chose Hilltop Inn by its awesome Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed.

The room was amazing - we stayed in the Bellevue Suite. It had two fireplaces, a separate living room area, a huge bathroom and a private deck with french doors leading out to it. Beautiful.

Although our trip was short, the staff was amazing and the breakfast was as well. My boyfriend had Eggs Benedict and I had a strawberry cream cheese stuffed waffle. Very good.

We are already planning our summer return trip to the Hilltop Inn!

“Absolutely perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hilltop Inn from a Saturday through Monday. We were greeted by Janet and immediately felt her congeniality and warmth. We stayed in the Stewart Room which was beautiful! It had a fireplace and jacuzzi. The room was immaculate and tastefully decorated.

The food was also amazing! Breakfast included both a buffet and hot entree (your choice btwn a sweet or savory dish...we tried and loved both). In the afternoon, they laid out a spread of teas and delicious homemade pastries and snacks. The pumpkin cookies, cinnamon cake, and toffee bars were divine! We made sure we were back at the Inn both days around 3:00 for the goodies!

The Inn is perfectly located and within walking distance to the shops and restaurants.

Janet and her staff were friendly and accommodating. We have nothing negative at all to say about our stay at the Hilltop Inn. Thanks to Janet and her staff for everything!!!
