I recently stayed at Windsome while in Newport for a conference, and it was lovely. Valerie was very gracious and flexible, especially with my 3:30 a.m. arrival! I had my own keys and could come and go with ease. I enjoyed the "continental plus" style breakfast which allowed me to eat in my room if I wished rather than joining others in a dining room. It was the perfect balance between interaction and independence. The room was comfortable with plenty of room, as was the bathroom. Location was good...a short drive to the harbor, shops, etc. I didn't ever try walking it. Very reasonable rate, and overall I would definitely like to go back!

Windsome is situated in a residential area which I was a bit wary about initially. However, it was in reality very central--within walking distance as well--to all there is to see and do in town.

There are only two rooms, one with a shower only the other with a bath/shower. Both were well appointed and it is obvious that when they remodelled they put a great deal of thought into their potential guests comforts and needs. The rooms were very clean, well decorated, the bed comfortable, and the shared living room area was great as it allowed us to eat in one night--reheated the deli bought meals in microwave.

As it was off season most of the Mansions were closed and I do hope we will be able to return in 3-4 years. If that is the case then I would not hesitate a heart beat to stay here again.
