Don't let them (the owners) book you in the free-standing apartment (next door ) - you'll get lots of space but without any practical functioning features that you take for granted in a high end B&B. My family was there forFood & Wine Weekend in Sept. 2009, and my husband's end of the bed had ac right on top of his shoulder/head. I had no night table and was on top of a wall. In the middle of the night, I was walking to the restroom with a flashlight that I had to keep on the bare floor. The conditions were so awful, with the air vents blowing right on top of our heads, we contemplated sleeping on the couch in the unairconditioned living room.
During every breakfast, the owner starts complaining about the cost of upkeeping the inn - Newport taxes, the cost of the draps. The innkeeper serves breakfast, but are not available anytime after breakfast by going behind closed doors - making it very clear that they do not want to be approached until the following morning.
Next morning, we were both in dreadful moods and when we had complained, we were told that (we were the only ones who had ever had a problem with the room so it must be us. At the breakfast table we were given the silent treatment and treated like we were being "punished". It was a humiliating, belittling expereince that ruined my vacation after we spent hundreds of dollars.
Finds another place to stay.

We are deeply troubled by this review. First we are so sorry you did not enjoy your stay at our property. As evidenced by our guests comments and the lengths we go to maintain our property, we really strive to exceed expectations. The troubling part is that you waited so long to express your displeasure, we rely upon favorable reviews for our business, and take anything other than stellar comments very seriously. I remember your stay well, our staff exhausted all options to accomodate you and your spouse. Upon failing to please you with the numerous demands we offerred to move you to another room. Sadly you did not take us up on the offer. Our interactions with guests are plentiful, please see the other reviews and stacks of glowing comments in our guest register, we are always available to assist guests (we were when you asked us for the 10-12 changes/rearrangements to your room). I am also sorry for the way you felt at the breakfast table, our other guets that weekend reviewed us and specifically mentioned last year how much they enjoyed the breakfast and banter at the table. We are so sorry and would welcome you back for another stay in one of our other rooms.
