That's how I would characterize the weekend stay that my woife and I had for our 15th wedding anniversary. All I was looking for was a place that was decent, affordable, and a prime location. I got that, but based on the B&B's website and what it claimed to offer, I thought I was getting a little more. We stayed in the Rosemist Suite. Chose this one for the separate sitting room with two chairs and small TV, situated between the nice bedroom and the very nice bathroom. This room is right on Spring Street, which is really a very busy street for a narrow side street. That didn't bother us, though. The only two complaints that I'll mention are the TV and the breakfast. My wife was disappointed in the very small 15"?? TV in the sitting room. I told her it's a B&B, not a hotel with flat screen TVs in the bedroom. Whatever. But my little gripe was with the false advertising of a "full complimentary buffet breakfast". Upon check-in, I asked the host what time breakfast was served, and she said 7:30-9:30am. With only two guest rooms in the house, I assumed that she'd be preparing breakfast in the kitchen and the guests would eat in the very cute and nicely appointed dining area, which had 4 chairs and place settings. We came downstairs around 8am the next morning, only ones downstairs, so we sat in the living room on hte couch thumbing through the books. There was a fresh fruit bowl, scones, coffee and a container of raisin bran on a small table at the back end of the dining room. We nibbled on some of the fruit while waiting for the host to cook breakfast soon. But my wife began to wonder if the fruit and scones WAS the breakfast. I assured her it wasn't. The host came in 15 minutes later, we had a little small talk, she went upstairs to the office room, and she came back downstairs several minutes later. A bit more small talk, and then she announced that her and her husband were going next door to the Franklin Spa for breakfast, and that we were free to hang out and read the books as long as we wanted. HUH? So, as she was heading out the door, I asked her if we were eating breakfast here. She said, yeah, there's fresh fruit and scones and raisin bran in the dining area. UGH! Here we were, sitting around like a couple of fools waiting for a full buffet breakfast, something along the lines of bacon and eggs and pancakes or whatever, and the host is off to enjoy a delicious breakfast next door at the best place in town. There was already a long wait to get into the Franklin Spa by the time we walked out the door, so we went elsewhere. The next day, though, we beat them to the Spa and enjoyed our breakfast. Again, not a huge deal. We really enjoyed our stay in a clean room, with off-street parking, and a two minute walk to Bowen's Wharf and America's Cup Blvd. Prime location! Just please update the website and brochure on the wording of the breakfast. Scones, fruit and raisin bran is not a full complete breakfast.
