“Sanitation issues that required the GM's follow up”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

I stayed here with my boyfriend during the peak summer season. Brinley Victorian is part of the Inns on Bellevue family. The hotel is old and the decor is, well, Victorian. The room was spacious and had a fireplace, however, it wasn't clean. The sheets were stained, the room had a musty odor and the carpet was damp. We raised these concerns with the hotel staff, and they were very flip, dismissing our concerns. The failure in customer service and sanitation issues are not acceptable for $200/night. Ultimately, I sought the general manager, Paul. He is extremely professional - apologized on behalf of his staff and remediated the issue. I'd stay at one of the sister inns but i wouldn't stay at the Brinley again.

“not a pleasant experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

I was disappointed in this B & B. The bed was noisy, the mattress was lumpy, we had to go out of the room thru a public hall to get to our ‘private’ bathroom. The wallpaper reminded me of something a grandmother would put in her house. The breakfast was so so, mediocre at best, not impressed at all, The room was not worth $200 a night, even for Newport. I would not recommend this B & B to anyone.

“Just ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

Visited Newport this passed weekend for the wine and food festival. The entire weekend was one of the best weekends of our life. We did not spend much time at the Brinley because we were out at tasting and enjoying the great city of Newport. When we were at the inn though we felt like it was just ok. We knew going into the stay that is was nothing over the top from other reviews but just hoped it was a hidden gem. The room was large but extremely out dated and needed new wall paper and carpet. The Inn keeper Paul was suped nice and made a killer french toast but that was about the only good thing.
Would we stay here again. No, because there are so many other places to stay and one of them has to be better. Sorry Brinley but we were not that impressed.

Room Tip: Stay else where

“What a great way to begin the New Year!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2011

We planned a last minute trip for New Years with family and friends. The Brinley had a perfect location, convenient to all. There was lovely decor, fabulous hospitality and service, along with a great breakfast as a bonus. Paul Galluscio is the General Manager and he went out of his way to make our stay wonderful. I believe 4 properties are part of the group that the Brinley belongs to. We tried some great bars and restaurants. We will definitely plan to visit again in the spring to do the cliff walk. Newport is as beautiful as I remember and we can't wait to return.

“Very nice and welcoming B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2009

What a gem! John and Jennifer know how to make guests feel happy at their lovely B&B. Beautiful rooms, nicely decorated, very good breakfasts. The house is centrally located, close to downtown Newport. Very pleasant hosts always available for help. Highly recommended!
