My husband and I just spent our one year anniversary at the Rhode Island House. It was our first time in Newport and our first time staying at a B&B, and we were a little nervous about the B&B. Arik, who runs the house took all of those worries away. We could not have asked for a better weekend or a better host!!! We were coming from NYC by train and therefore would not have a car in Newport...Arik was kind enough to come pick us up at the Ferry. And one of our best friends had called ahead to have a bottle of champagne waiting for us, and there it was...at what hotel could you get this kind of service without having to pay for it!!!! The house is absolutley charming...everytime I looked, I saw some sort of cute knick knack. They truly thought of everything and every detail. I highly recommend the hunter room. It has a huge terrace/deck off of it. There was nothing better than coming home at night, opening a bottle of wine and just relaxing while overlooking a really cute backyard! And besides making an AMAZING breakfast, Arik also recommended some fantastic restaraunts. Living in NYC has caused us to be a little critical of where we eat, but his suggestions could not have been better!!! Exactly the kind of food we love and a perfect atmosphere for a one year anniversary dinner. One of our favorite parts was renting a scooter and going around Newport (also recommended by Arik). The owner of Goofy foot Scooters was hysterical...and he mapped out a great route for us to take, which allowed us to see everything we wanted to in Newport, yet little shortcuts to skip some of the things we wouldn't have found so interesting. If you're coming to Newport, I highly recommend the Rhode Island House...I thought the rate was low for what you get, a nice room, AMAZING breakfast, and the best host you could ask for!!!! fyi: the pictures on their website are meant to be accurate (they didn't want to give any false impressions), but I don't think they do the house nearly enough justice. Rarely do I see pictures online and then actually arrive at a place and find it 10x better than I pictured. If we ever go back to Newport, we willl 100% go back to the Rhode Island House...oh, the location was great too.
