“Absolutely Love it!!!”

My husband and I have never been to a B&B before and decided to try for my birthday last weekend. It surpassed our wildest expectations and never once did we feel uncomfortable. Aric, our host, is the best cook and made us feel right at home. He was really helpful and actually made me a whole dozen of scones for my birthday! It was really sweet of him! Don't miss out especially on his scones. They are absolutely out of the world! We stayed in the Festival Room. It's really well decorated and very, very comfortable with a working fireplace and a great bathroom. I can go on forever about Rhode Island House but no words can further describe how much we enjoyed ourselves. You just have to be there to experience it. It was really one of my best birthdays' ever and we will definitely be back!

“Quiet elegance”

My partner and I absolutely loved our stay at the Rhode Island House. Our host, Aric was gracious, mindful and unpretentious. The house itself was spotless, beautifully decorated and comfortable and the grounds are idillic and lovely. We stayed in "Hunter" and very much enjoyed the stately furnishings, our private porch and large jacuzzi. The beauty and ease of this place really gives one a sense of how leisurely Newport living can be.
This is a very special place for us and we look forward to staying here again many times. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

“We loved the Rhode Island House!!!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2005

My husband and I just spent our one year anniversary at the Rhode Island House. It was our first time in Newport and our first time staying at a B&B, and we were a little nervous about the B&B. Arik, who runs the house took all of those worries away. We could not have asked for a better weekend or a better host!!! We were coming from NYC by train and therefore would not have a car in Newport...Arik was kind enough to come pick us up at the Ferry. And one of our best friends had called ahead to have a bottle of champagne waiting for us, and there it was...at what hotel could you get this kind of service without having to pay for it!!!! The house is absolutley charming...everytime I looked, I saw some sort of cute knick knack. They truly thought of everything and every detail. I highly recommend the hunter room. It has a huge terrace/deck off of it. There was nothing better than coming home at night, opening a bottle of wine and just relaxing while overlooking a really cute backyard! And besides making an AMAZING breakfast, Arik also recommended some fantastic restaraunts. Living in NYC has caused us to be a little critical of where we eat, but his suggestions could not have been better!!! Exactly the kind of food we love and a perfect atmosphere for a one year anniversary dinner. One of our favorite parts was renting a scooter and going around Newport (also recommended by Arik). The owner of Goofy foot Scooters was hysterical...and he mapped out a great route for us to take, which allowed us to see everything we wanted to in Newport, yet little shortcuts to skip some of the things we wouldn't have found so interesting. If you're coming to Newport, I highly recommend the Rhode Island House...I thought the rate was low for what you get, a nice room, AMAZING breakfast, and the best host you could ask for!!!! fyi: the pictures on their website are meant to be accurate (they didn't want to give any false impressions), but I don't think they do the house nearly enough justice. Rarely do I see pictures online and then actually arrive at a place and find it 10x better than I pictured. If we ever go back to Newport, we willl 100% go back to the Rhode Island House...oh, the location was great too.

“Romantic and Relaxing”

My husband and I spent Thursday through Sunday of Labor Day weekend at the Rhode Island House. It was exactly what we were looking for. The Rhode Island House is ideally located between the town and the beaches/mansions and within walking distance of either. With five guest rooms the B&B is the perfect size, quiet and peaceful, but you don't feel isolated. The hosts have thought of everything, from wireless internet availability to board games to menus from a variety of Newport restaurants. We stayed in the Auchincloss room which was extremely spacious, beautifully furnished and had the added bonus of a hot tub (in its own separate room). Our host, Aric, was extremely knowledgable about Newport's sights and eateries and gave excellent recommendations. And his cooking...each breakfast was better than the day before!! If you have to beg, plead, barter or sell your first born, be sure to get a taste of his apple ginger scones - Out of This World!! If you are looking for a reasonably priced, romantic and convenient location with outstanding breakfasts, be sure to check out the Rhode Island House!

“Anniversary Weekend in Newport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2005

My husband and I went to the Rhode Island House for our 1st anniversary weekend. The room was very clean and the breakfast was really good. They definitely have the best french toast. I liked the fact that they had separate breakfast tables so, you didn't have to sit with other couples. My only complaint of the Rhode Island House was that the walls did seem to be a bit thin.

It's about a 15 minute walk to the heart of Newport. Overall, it was a nice weekend but there isn't that much to do in Newport. I wouldn't stay longer than 2 days.
