We got off to a bit of a bad start (partially my fault). I'd booked a smoking room because that was all that was available, but the location was perfect for us because of it's proximity to the Naval Base. The room smelled horrid!!! When I took a shower the curtain wasn't long enough for the "shower stall" (no bath tub), so when I was finished I had to use the two towels provided to mop up the mess from the water that was EVERYWHERE in the bathroom. Obviously this had been happening for a while, as the wall was already damaged from the water.
HERE'S THE GOOD NEWS. I went to the office and complained in the morning, and although they wouldn't have a non-smoking room available until Monday (this was Saturday morning) they came in that day and changed out the shower curtain saying "no one had told them"....fair enough.
On Monday they switched our room for us and it was very nice.....and it didn't smell!!! This one also had a regular bathtub too, so no curtain issue. We didn't have a remote for the TV in the new room, but management was quickly responsive. I believe the manager (owner?) lived behind the office, as he seemed to always be there, and he was always pleasant (if not cheerful) and incredibly responsive to anything I asked for ...and I think I was a bit of a pain.
TIPS IF YOU STAY HERE: Bring a hair dryer and expect interNOT. (I had good connectivity in the first room which was close to the office, but the second room was farther down, and I couldn't connect up.)
It's not the Ritz, but it's a nice place to stay (we were there for a week) It was clean and the staff was helpful, responsive and friendly. Kudos to the manager and all the staff.
