“Newport Gem”

We stayed at the Victorian Ladies Inn for three nights during our 2 week tour of New England and to visit our daughter who is studying for a year at the URI. We stayed in the Caroline Room at the very top of the house and although the room was quite small it was very pretty and the bedding was gorgeous on a very comfortable bed. Harry and his little band of staff are all very helpful and attentive to needs. Although they weren't in when we arrived quite late, getting the key and into our room was well organised. The breakfasts were huge and the hot course was different every day giving a nice sense of anticipation each morning. Harry gave us a good tip which was to split up the tours of the mansions with a drive along Ocean Drive which was beautiful. We would also recommend the Cliff Walk which was bracing! We would certainly recommend this B&B to anybody visiting Newport.

“theres a reason why they are voted best B&B in Newport”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

I absolutely love the Victorian Ladies Inn...My husband and I have stayed here twice. Last visit was October 2010. Our stays have always been pleasant, the Inn Keepers are always nice and helpful, we check in super easy. Breakfast has always been delicious and the cookies and tea in the afternoon are a great treat! It is a bit far from the main area of Newport but we didn't mind. It's fairly easy to find parking in the seaport and we drove a lot anyway because we always visit the mansions. I would definitely rec this B&B much better option than staying at a typical commercial hotel!

“Absolutely wonderful”

We stayed at the Victorian Ladies Inn for two nights in the Pauline Room and what a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, the Innkeeper and all connected with the hotel were charming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The room was superb, delightfully decorated with lovely period pieces, a small fridge, living flame gas fire and very good bathroom. It was a pleasure to be in the room and lounge on the sofa, work at the antique desk or sleep in the king sized bed.
Breakfasts were cooked personally, one morning in was crab cakes and scrambled egg, the next morning breakfast lasagne. There was always a continental breakfast available as well as the cooked which included home made granola, yoghurts, home made cakes, bagels and soft cheese etc. The coffee was also very good.
Newport itself is great small city with stunning mansions to visit and lots of good restaurants.
The Victorian Ladies Inn is about a fifteen minute stroll to the waterfront where the bars etc are situated on Thames Street or a ten minute stroll to the Cliff Path.
All in all, a delightful visit to Newport topped off by the excellent hospitality and comforts of the Victorian Ladies Inn.
Harry, the owner cooked the breakfast on our second morning and he clearly has a passion for the Inn and was a great character to talk to. His wife Cheryl was a wealth of knowledge on the local area. Everyone connected with the Inn was delightful.
Highly recommended!

Room Tip: There is one executive room in each of the three houses. Pay that bit extra and book one of those. W...

“Short and sweet”

Only had one very hot night here on our New England road trip. The Caroline was a lovely room, but on the small side and no aircon, just a fan. The inn is beautifully maintained and clean and we were warmly greeted by Harry, our host. One piece of advice on the Cliff Walk, do not go past the Breakers Mansion as the path becomes a rocky outcrop you cannot easily get off for the next 2/3 miles. We wasted precious time with this. Instead turn off at Breakers on to BelleVue Avenue to see all the lovely mansions.

Room Tip: Try for a floor lower down, top floor in the inn is up a steep spiral staircase.

“Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

We stayed at the Victorian Ladies Inn for 2 nights. There was some confusion on our part as when we made the online reservation it showed 2 twin beds but our receipt said a queen bed. We were more comfortable with that. The twin beds were short and smaller than the standard twin so my 6' husband didn't fit very well. Breakfast was very nice - lots of fresh fruit. Situated close enough to downtown we could walk back and forth.
