I recently stayed at Forty 1 North mid week to have dinner with old friends from various locations in CT and RI. I am a classic warm weather, sun shine on my face kind of person who would thoroughly enjoy this Hotel in the swinging summer season but let me share with you, you really should take advantage of everthing this upscale, chic, modern hotel has to offer right now. In high season a luxury boutique property like this commands premium prices for a very good reason, 41N (as is on the sign on the main building) is a breath of fresh air in Victorian BB historic Newport. Not that there is anything wrong with BB's but if you crave casual contemporary with all the bells and whistles vist 41N. There were six in our party and we enjoyed the Wed. night Fermintation dinner at the oval bar. Really - 5 wine pairings with 5 flights of wine for $40.00. Alex the bartender made sure that everyone at the bar was comfortable and Tom the Matre D discussed each wine with charm. The food pairings were simply delish!! The atmosphere was enjoyable as guests interacted with eachother. A really fun night. BTW - I was told there are really great and special dining offerings almost every nght of the week! I overheard the bartender sharing a great lobster and wine special. I believe it is on their web site. Check it out.
The room was simply lovely!! Scrumptious and luxurious. The bed? Hard to leave. I wish I could have enjoyed the sinfully large soaking tub and crawled back into bed until check out, alas, it was a working day for me. I can say that I left with vim and vigor having enjoyed time with good friends, fantastic food, wonderful service and superior accomodations.
I am already planing my next soiree with friends at Forty 1 North next month. ( I want to have s'mores and a hot toddy by the fire pit!!)
