“gorgeous!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

This is a very special place. Total privacy, nice location in the ponderosa pines, yet a short drive from downtown flagstaff. Beautiful, super comfortable rooms, a nice common and dining area, great snacks and teas, and a very good breakfast. The hosts were polite and discrete. There is a giant hot-tub under the stars, a cedar sauna, and a super nice loft with a giant flat-screen and massage table available. Couldn't ask for a better vacation. Right next door to all of the amazing hiking in both flag and sedona.

Room Tip: All of them are very lovely and quiet.

“Disappointing.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

I read all the reviews and thought this would be a great place to stay. I must say that I was disappointed. Our host was very helpful with suggesting sights to see and places to eat. The common room was comfortable and warm (stoves gave it a nice glow) However, the room was well furnished, but fairly basic and linens could use some updating. A note on the wall indicated that hairdryers were in a closet - I went to the closet but there were no hairdryers and there were only two other rooms occupied. While the note also said to call innkeeper, I didn't necessarily want to do this at 7 am. Breakfasts were good and nice portions, but not memorable.

Room Tip: Bring your own hairdryer

“Cosy comfortable lodge”

We stayed for 1 night in December 2011, there was plenty of snowfall which made our stay even more memorable. Wish we had extended our stay by an additional night! Wendy the owner is a great hostess, she's friendly and inviting. She also provides a great home-cooked breakfast, the homemade granola is delicious! Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable, the lodge felt almost as if we were staying at home! We also enjoyed the huskies outside. Ü

Location of the lodge is within easy driving distance of the town. If we return to Flagstaff, we would definitely look at staying at Abineau again! Highly recommended.

“Breath of Fresh air in the Ponderosa Pines”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

This was my second trip here with my wife. This time felt even more inviting as the previous owners were not as hospitable. The location is superb, just minutes off the I17, 10 minutes south of flagstaff. Rooms are like a country getaway and very cozy. Breakfast is very filling and delicious. I always love the homemade granola as its always crunchy and just sweet enough. Furnishings are inviting and fit the atmosphere of the location perfectly. A much better place to stay than a noisy hotel in Flagstaff,

Room Tip: All the rooms are very nice but the bear's den room is the room furthest from the Kitchen and di...

“An inviting country retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

This is a delightful B&B for those of us who like to get away into the countryside . . . yet it is less than a 10 minute drive from Flagstaff, on good paved roads. The spacious living-dining areas are decorated in a relaxed country style, with burnished wood floors and railings and a number of polished wood tables for two or four. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and juices are available here from early in the morning, great for folks who like to start the day with a little caffeine! Wendy serves hearty, hot breakfasts at times arranged by signing up the night before. The breakfasts are delicious, and the menu changes daily, featuring such items as excellent homemade pancakes or omelets. The rooms (we saw several) are individually decorated in simple country style, have modern private bathrooms with tub/shower combination, and are very clean. An inviting outdoor porch extends the country theme with interesting antiques-- it's a great place to relax on a warm afternoon. Wendy gave us excellent advice for scenic drives to and from the Grand Canyon, which is in comfortable reach from the Lodge. All in all, the Abineau Lodge is a great place to stay.
