My big mistake as booking a 2.0 star accommodations on Priceline.com w/out first reading assorted reviews. Okay, so, that's our story on how we stayed 4 nights @ the Super 8 on Lucky Lane in Flagstaff. (Since we were doing a hiking/adventure/exploration trip all over Northern AZ & not spending too much time in the hotel, we thought 2.0 stars would be okay).
Truth be told, I was in fear of staying here after reading the bed bug & dirty room reviews, but of course, Priceline refused to let me cancel--even though I spent $20 bucks for cancellation insurance. (**Plz note: Other than death, serious illness, or job loss--you can't cancel on Priceline**).
Okay, we got there & the place looked as expected from the outside. Checked in and a young woman @the front desk was quite professional & cordial. She addressed our bed bug concerns and assured us that the motel had been inspected (by whom?) and there were no bed bugs found.
We were given a 2nd floor room (which was hell, since we had 4 heavy bags). We were pleasantly surprised to find a spacious & pretty clean room. We inspected for bed bugs & were thrilled not to find any critters...(I checked daily & drove the husband nuts!).
Okay, here are the positives: Pretty affordable, comfy bed, spacious room, fresh coffee @the breakfast bar, free Internet, and okay, I'll say it again: no bed bugs or other creatures were found.
Another positive: Upon our checkout, the friendly front desk woman gave us some "swag"--Toothpaste sample, fruity drink mixes, Craisins, and coupons...That was nice.
The Negatives: The location sucked for us. We obviously prefer the downtown/historic district in whatever town we visit. There were a ton of budget motels & a Cracker Barrel nearby--that's it. So much for charm.
Other Negatives: Rather loud neighbors--lots of kids, probably an entire little league team; small, not so appealing breakfast buffet (we had coffee & brought it up to the room); crappy looking jacuzzi; just nothing appealing about the surroundings.
Considering we were only there for sleeping & grooming before our adventures, it was bearable. However, for a 4-day adventure, I probably wouldn't recommend it. A one-night stay perhaps would be all I'd recommend for travelers @ the Super 8 on Lucky Lane.
