Conifer House has a lot of nice qualities, but we noticed a couple of drawbacks too. We stayed in the Ponderosa. The room was very clean, lovely, and large enough so we never felt cramped. I was disappointed that the king size bed did not have a pillow-top mattress. For me, the bed was too hard and uncomfortable. I recommend that the proprietors invest in a quality pillow-top mattress; pretty much expected in the high-end B&B’s. Another disappointment was the shower. The shower curtains hung from makeshift PVC pipe forming a circle over the shower. Also, the water pressure was weak and the shower was cramped; while washing my hair, my elbows continually rubbed up against the shower curtain. However, the Jacuzzi tub was very nice.
Conifer House is located in a very quiet residential neighborhood – No street noise what-so-ever. We didn’t even hear a dog bark. Our main reason for visiting Flagstaff was to ski Snowbowl. The B&B was conveniently located right off Hwy 180.
The breakfast/main gathering room was nicely decorated for Christmas and provided a festive atmosphere. Saturday breakfast was exactly what you would expect and anticipate from a quality B&B. Sunday breakfast was pancakes. Good, but I can fix pancakes myself. I was hoping for something different.
Lauren is a very gracious lady and she went out of her way to make us feel welcome.
All things considered, I really don't feel the value of our stay was worth $175.29 per night.
